German exhaust manifold has a rectangular cross section while Korean and Turkish ones have circular.
Would you be making it ellipsoid for the sake of making a difference, I wouldn't.

German MTU 883:
View attachment 20336

Doosan:
View attachment 20340

Yet somehow the Doosan isn't a copy. It's only a copy when Turkey's one looks similar.
No one has said that here! In fact if you investigate, you will find that the dv27k engine shares a lot of similarities with German engine. It took them over 2 years to crack through German machine and produce DV27K. They may have even used a number of German parts. (which we can not do)
According to Ibrahim Sunnetci, it is based on MTU;
quote:
South Korea managed to develop a domestic powerpack consisting of Doosan Infracore product 1500 hp DV27K diesel engine with a double turbocharger (it is claimed to be based on the German MTU product MT890 series diesel engine)
unquote.
When our Batu start operating and some specs are published I wonder which one of these engines it will be closer to?
Altay itself was produced with TOT from K2 Black Panther. But Altay is a Turkish tank now. It is not quite the same as K2 now. Even the armour is indigenous. It is in my eyes , through and through fully Turkish.
Firtina Artillery was produced with TOT from K9 Thunder. But especially Firtina 2 now is quite a different machine with it’s Aselsan fire control system. That too is a Turkish made weapon.
This engine has to be a copy of the MTU. It has to fit in to and power a tank that was built to accommodate MTU engine.

İ don’t believe that the likes of Osman Dur will tell “all” the truth. This administration is mad on 100% national/domestic brand.
The likeness of Doosan is so apparent that one has to be blind not to see it that Batu is a good copy of that engine. To do that without infringing on patents and IP rights, Doosan must have agreed to this copying.
But , the important point is:
Can we produce this engine freely and sell it to whoever we want?
If so than it is a locally produced engine, made in Turkey. Who cares how it is produced?
Through this TOT we now have access to technology that is the pinnacle of Diesel engine manufacturing. This will open other avenues for us. Good work done by the BMC engineers! Well done!
I would chill about it, at the end it is motor, almost impossible not to resemble on some other one, simple physics. As others emphasized most important thing that you have full ownership and freedom for implementation and commercial activities.

Some people forget that also engine parts are somewhat standardized and when you build a new engine you use those standardized parts as well.

It is like designing a circuit board and claim that it is copied because all resistors, capacitors and IC's look exactly like on other circuit boards.

the easiest way to build an engine of the same size is to build a similar engine. it doesn't necessarily have to be a 1 to 1 copy

HOW it is started -> "Proud to be the heart of Altay"

World saw german true face nothing more then ->" Greedy, Double faced Lier, Changing its words when wind changes it's direction, Not relyable Ally etc. "

Now it is Ends -> " Old product replaced with new future BATU". Customers around the world have altarnative and this will create at least pressure that "German word and related products are very big doubt".

You do NOT need headaches or even Tumor on you brain, There is option it called BATU. :)

Guys, please don't say empty stuff like hey, BATU is copy of this or that. If you have solid evidence present it, if not don't throw shit on our engines because of similarities.

Same stuff happened with MPT-76. People said hey this copy of HK, chamber is copy of something else....At the end, all IP rights of MPT-76 belong to Turkey and it gets the job done as an outstanding rifle.

Here is our 1500 hp engine...same thing happening again except this time, Turkish members throwing shit instead of foreigners.

Mr Fahrettin Öztürk (TAI) about TFX MMU fighter aircraft:

"Engine development work continues at TEI in Eskişehir, our subsidiary. We start with the double F-16 engine on the National Combat Aircraft. The aim of our TR Motor company is to produce our own engine. For this, activities continue in Hacettepe Teknokent. Work is underway for engine development. MMU's first prototypes will be flown with an external engine, but later we plan to deliver it to the customer with our own engines. TEI and TR Motor carry out domestic engine studies. "

Our big players began to combine their powers to reach same goal.

I spoke to a source from about the Batu project.

In general, the incident occurred as follows:;

Technology transfer was carried out in the "package design" procedure for some parts from South Korea.

From the British, we received mechanical modeling and analysis programs in which we tested our own designs.

The main core design team consists of Turkish friends, especially from Germany, with the majority of them being reverse brain drain

It is also said that depending on the performance of the engine, it may even be offered to Korea in the future.

We could use it in generators, another markt for our industry to grow.

Dont be harsh to our closest in EU. We got many ToT from Germany. Like the warheads Roketsan use in their bombs and missiles. And now in our engines.

Germany has always been supportive of Turkey, but being in the EU and even if you're the powerhouse of the EU it comes with a few strings attached.

Germany for example has pushed back Greece a dozen times, if it wasn't for Germany there had been serious consequences and a lot of fronts.

He said we had received advice from the British for the transmission, but the main design was ours. The British have passed on their experience. I've also heard that the whole world is tired of German tank engine and transmission solutions. But governments don't want to take on the costs. That's why they helped us. They see us as a (Korean-British) opportunity to get rid of the Germans

In short, the eyes of the whole world have been turned to the tank Engine that Turkish engineers will develop!!!
