On August 30, I found a master's thesis on Magnetocaloric Materials and Magnetic Cooling. I sent the thesis to an expert friend and asked his opinion. And when he returns to me, "it seems that it can open new horizons in infrared guidance systems and drone cameras with more precise, light, small, efficient, low cost and easy maintenance." said. That's why I think we are on the verge of breaking new grounds in guidance systems with ASELSAN FLIR technologies.

I have to admit that I see many important informations "hidden" in these blogs, but I just don't understand why they're sometimes written in cryptic ways, You'd sometimes need to have in depth knowledge to understand the "hints".

Sometimes it's just nice to have everything served.

http://uskudar.biz/ was where I read about the FPB design from Turkish ship designer that GnK sent to Lürssen in Germany.

I would love to see a indigenous 76mm and 127mm naval guns with Strales and Vulcan capability.

127mm naval gun is also under development phase.

Does it use the air-burst shells?
I don't think. it needs programmable ammunition and up front to cannon needs programmer and radar.

Sum up: we have programmable ammunition technology from 35 mm ATOM so we could transfer on to 76mm ammos however we need to upgrade their guns.

The reason why MKEK was asked to develop 76mm and 127mm is particularly because Turkey desire to develop guided-programmable-ER shells independently (probably not sold upon request)
While conventional 76mm - 57mm are supplied, will be purchased too, anyway.

Development overview of Turkish electro-optical turrets. Translated by google translate:

Defense policy analyst Oguz Turan, in an interview with Defensehere, electro-optical reconnaissance TB2 on the agenda Bayraktar, told the adventures of surveillance and targeting system in Turkey.

Addressing the crisis with Canada, Oğuz said:

"ASELSAN's studies of high resolution imaging systems have existed for a long time. First of all, ASELFLIR-200T had the ASELFLIR-200T made with the help of technology transfer from abroad, and then the ASELFLIR-300 came at this point.

A higher resolution imaging system was required especially with the T129 ATAK platform. At this point, as the T129 ATAK is a large platform and has a higher payload capacity, the weight of the electro-optic and infrared camera to be built is not very important, so ASELFLIR-300Ts can reach up to 120 kilos. But it met the need there. But then at the same time in Turkey, she began to develop UAV. Since these UAVs are tactical class UAVs, they have a very low payload capacity of 50-60 kilograms. In other words, they were UAVs that could carry less load, so this affected the weight of ASELFLIR-300 very much.

ASELFLIR-300 was used there when we said that we will use our own system in Heron that we bought from abroad and from Israel. Therefore, this integration also took a long time, but it was not a problem as Heron could carry more capacity and would not carry any weapon on it, it would not carry any other useful load, but as we said, this was a big problem for Bayraktar TB2 and Vestel Karayel UAVs that were being developed at that time. Therefore, this was not enough, there was a need to develop a different imaging system. At that time ASELSAN started to work for CATS with its own means. Here it was a common span system, it was a newer technology. ASELSAN developed this rapidly and started testing. Of course, we started to use such an intense and more advanced technology system for the first time. Therefore, the test times and tests of it continued in a much longer, more arduous process, it took longer.

Approximately in 2018-2019, this was first tested on ANKA platforms, tested and became available, but after that point, mass production was expected to start, but maturation efforts and efforts to obtain a better platform remained at the point of continuing. Therefore, ASELSAN CATS continued to be developed in order to create a better system at this point. At that point in this study, it will continue more and more.

Of course, at the end when you look this way before with Turkey was initially made system uses a FLIR camera before a ASELSAN Star SAFIRE. At the Star SAFIRE point, it also switched to Wescam use with Karayel. At the same time, when the usefulness of Wescam was appreciated by the user force, it was decided to use it on Bayraktar UAVs.

The Canadian L3 was later introduced to use the MX-15D and C MX-15D from the Canadian firm Wescam, under the parent company called L3 Harris. So they began to be used for a long time but then he started his first YPG with the military operation in the east of Turkey, the Euphrates and the result of intense pressure from the Canadian government stopped the export license of PKK supporters. Then the result of negotiations conducted between Canadian government with Turkey in 2020 that Turkey is a NATO country again in April, considering that, and this showing and opened from this export again showing will be continued need for NATO needs. Necessary permissions were given for this, but in this Karabakh issue, again, this time with the pressure of the Armenian lobby, "NATO member" Canada stopped it again and stopped it for the second time. Of course, at this point the narrative Wescam Turkey's unreliability at this point. It started to use CATS with the same features that can be used in place of Wescam, which it already has and continues to develop.

Of course, CATS is our own system above all, but we continue to develop it. So let's start using it once, it will continue to improve. Likewise, ASELFLIR-400 is already working on this in CATS.

Due to the DAS system, the ASELFLIR 400 system, these systems are in operation. Although we can not get the same image at a Wescam quality only at the infrared point or we do not get the same resolution, as we see in the tests performed, it completely provides the values that can perform the desired task. The remaining values continue to be improved. There is no point on this issue, when you look at the top Outer adventure of our Turkey everything we did scrape our own quotation, much more so in a superior for we learn, two outstanding new blocks, more performance coming in less time than many new ones we can draw. We saw this in MAM, we saw it in CİRİT. Likewise, we have seen it in our UAVs. Therefore, we are making new, more modern and performances very quickly. Likewise, we will do this in CATS and beyond. Therefore, we will continue to develop our own product first. Therefore, these will now be used from now on. It will be much more localized.

When we look at all our critical parts together with the engines, when we place CATS together with our PD-170 and PD-222 engines to be used in AKSUNGUR, Bayraktar TB3 and even AKINCI, when we localize, much more localization, and much more critical products. We are moving very fast at this point. So they were ready in a very short time as things we could see on the field, in inventory, and at the point of conflict. We accelerated this much more at the point of commercialization. This will be the benefit brought by these misfortunes for us. That is, the bad neighbor makes a person home. We did the same, just a little faster. We will do much better, I can easily say this as the work continues.

Of course, when you look at it now, one of its disadvantages is that CATS seems to have a weight disadvantage of around 20% from Wescam, but this is one of the UAVs that can carry 50 kilograms of 60 kilograms of useful load in the 2014s and now 300 kilograms 750 kilograms from the UAVs. We switched to UAVs that can carry a useful load of 1350 kilos. So now a 10-pound weight gain is now 11-pound weight gain is negligible. Then it can no longer even be evaluated, this is not a very important thing. Apart from that, when we look at it, in terms of laser marking and laser range finder, CATS can do this much further than Wescam, that is, it can laser mark from much longer distances. Therefore, this is a plus of CATS. One disadvantage of CATS is of course that it is a bit more expensive than Wescam, which has been mass-produced very quickly for years, 10-20 years, because it has not been produced yet, but when these production numbers increase, it is our own production, so it is below Wescam will fall as much. The Aselflir-300 was a very important achievement for Turkey as it opened a path for further high-resolution electro-optical sensors. It having a 1440x576 resolution IR imager it falls in between a 1024x720 IR imager and 1280x720 IR imager with the potential to reach 1280x1024 resolution of the Wescam-15, SAFIRE 380-HD, Euroflir 410 and Argos II HD(T).

It shouldn't take long for Aselsan to reach 1280x1024 IR resolution in a sub 55kg optronics turret. And in the worst case, the heavier UAV like Aksungur and Akinci can even carry the Aselflir-300T without any problem and even the ANKA and TB3 with a more powerful engine. The Aselflir-300 is also a larger turret and thus would have more growth capability in terms of sensor size if need be.

The way Turkey is progressing in defence is stunning! All these sub-systems being developed are real force multipliers.
