The HAS-250 is a UAE-designed and developed surface-to-surface missile capable of travelling at speeds of up to 0.8 Mach, with a range of over 250Km. During its terminal phase, it can fly towards its target at a sea-skimming altitude of below 5m.

Engineered to provide the highest performance, the HAS-250 utilises Global Navigation Satellite and Inertial Navigation Systems (GNSS + INS) and for high accuracy targeting it is equipped with an active/passive terminal seeker and radio altimeter.

Saeed Al Mansoori, CEO of HALCON said: “Our focus on smart capabilities continue to deepen as we produce world-class products locally. The HAS-250 is a significant advancement in our quest to equip naval forces with the highest performing cruise missile system. Designed and developed by HALCON in the UAE, this weapon will assist in the active defence of the UAE’s water ways, and build on EDGE’s expanding reputation for being bold, agile, and disruptive.”

HALCON is part of the Missiles & Weapons cluster within EDGE, an advanced technology group for defence that ranks among the top 25 military suppliers in the world.

Probably Safran engine. Or Safran TOT.
Could be although there are some South Africans developing engines there they are far too weak for this project as of now with the strongest engine generating 1kn of thrust.

This seems more likely. South Africans get their unfinished engines, and the BAE get the capability. Win & win.

But it will take a long time. Developing a reliable&robust jet engine is a long and complex task for engines of all sizes. i.e. Kale Group KTJ 3200 jet engine.

The problem is (this size) not the material quality. The problem is having the experience to design and manufacture the engine.

KTJ 3200 is disposable engine, not suitable for UAV's. Even for suicide drones, runtime is insufficient.

Despite this, designing and producing made us very challenging. If we didn't have an expert like Prof. Mahmut Akşit, it wouldn't even be possible. Kale Group's engineers couldn't even figure out where the error was.

Experienced experts are very important in this matter. It's hard to find, even with money.

When it comes to the dimensions of the F110 engine, material technology also gains importance. Then one or a few experienced experts are not enough. The entire scientific and technological infrastructure of the country must be ready for this challenge.

Interestingly it will have passive homing allowing for it to hit Coastal radars as well.

Maybe there will be a land attack version in the future with increased range and a bigger warhead.

The engine can be upsized to 3.3kn and is of South African origin but engineers work in the UAE now. Its likely the HS-350 engine will be an upscaled version of the HJD-100X developed by them.

Apparently there may be some plans to use that 3.3kn turbojet as the core of a 6.6kn turbofan but we shall see if that comes to fruition.
