More information on the Czech 🇨🇿 led initiave to purchase 500,000 155mm artillery shells and 300,000 122mm artillery shells for Ukraine, from sources outside of Europe.

A source has confirmed that the majority of the shells will be purchased from South Korea 🇰🇷 and undisclosed countries in Southern Africa. The total cost of the shells is $2 Billion usd, which amounts to approximately $2500 per shell, which is substantially cheaper than the cost of shells sourced in Europe, but approximately 2.5x the cost pre-war cost of the same shells.

Germany 🇧🇪 has purchased 120,000 of the 122m shells in the stockpile, for usage by Ukraine's D-30 towed howitzers and Govzdzika self-propelled howitzers. Denmark 🇩🇰 has purchased 15,000 of the 155mm shells in the stockpile. Canada 🇨🇦 has announced that they will make an initial purchase of $30 million worth of shells, which equates to 12,000 shells. The Czechs 🇨🇿 have not yet disclosed how many shells they are purchasing as part of the initiative, although it was noted that there are other countries quietly involved in the purchasing process. Right now we can confirm that approximately 147,000 of the 800,000 shells have been paid for (By Germany, Denmark and Canada). The transfer of shells is expected to take place in the immediate coming weeks.

Looks like another A50 is right where it needs to be

That map shows the hit deep inside Russian territory, at 220 km from the frontline. It’s interesting if there is confirmation that this is where the plane was downed, and if it was indeed Ukrainian air defence, instead of friendly fire.

Exactly today, 2 years ago, a relatively unknown and obscure leader from Russia, Vladimir V Putin decided that he wanted to stop being miserable and got rid of mediocrity, so he invaded Ukraine and propelled himself to prominency worldwide

Now he is the sovereign of Russia, Belarus and 1/3 rd of Ukraine + famous.

183637.0.l.jpg

Ok, let's talk about the A-50U. In the infamous war novel "Red Strom Rising" by the infamous writer Tom Clancy, similar to the circumstances of the recently downed A-50U (at night), in his book chapter 'The Frisbees of Dreamland' the USAF devised an attack against the Soviet A-50U directing a Soviet strike package at night using a modified F-117 for air-air battle called the F-19A Ghost Rider armed with short-range fox 2 AIM-9M missile.

cold 1.png

The F19A flies low near the ground to add the clutter effect in addition to its low RCS characteristics to fly on deck level and come as close as possible to the A-50U whose signals are intercepted by the F-117 ESM thereby telling the F-19 on its whereabouts. When the range is less than <20 miles, the F-19 executes an aggressive pop-up maneuver and swatted the A-50U out of the sky

cold 3.png

Surprisingly this maneuver was earlier practiced by the Iraqi Mirage F1 jocks during the Iran-Iraq war exactly 4 years before Tom Clancy came up with the novel. It's called the 'Giraffe' Manuver, where the non-stealthy Iraqi Mirages in EMCON Alpha (meaning operating in no electronic emissions whatsoever) mode, would fly very close to the deck and hide behind ground clutter to 'cloak' themselves from the vaunted AWG-9 radar of Iranian F-14s and using a tightly coordinated GCI control, would pop out once the Mirages are less than 20 miles below the venerable Iranian F-14 Tomcat and using the codeword 'Giraffe, Giraffe' which ere then followed by the Mirage jocks by aggressively pulling up and directed their noses upwards and activated their radar just seconds before releases its deadly payload of Super Matra 530F, which resulted in 2 destroyed F-14A Tomcat in the engagement.

Now this maneuver is sound and has been perfectly demonstrated before by a single-engine light fighter like the Mirage F1s against heavy 2 seater F-14s, maybe the Ukrainians are going to execute the same tactics against Russian heavy Su-35 with their F-16s, especially with the loss of multiple A-50, will make such operation easier as there will be less situational awareness (IRBIS-E look down capability are mediocre at best).

There you have your A-50U discussion

Update on the Ukrainian 🇺🇦 Military fundraiser I posted about the other day. If you remember, the aim of the fundraiser was to raise $7.7 million usd, for the purchase of 35 sea drones, the likes of which Ukraine has been using to sink Russian warships in the Black Sea. Each drone costs $220,000 usd.

Donations poured in from across the civilized world and within 32 hours of announcing the initiative, the money was collected. The drones will be subsequently purchased and handed over to the Ukrainian Navy.

I genuinely believe that Zelensky should announce an international fundraiser for the purchase of artillery shells from the stockpile the Czechs 🇨🇿 are taking the lead on sourcing. If Zelensky came out and said:

"we need more support from America and I trust that it will get done, but for now, we need more help from the ordinary citizens of the civilized world. We need to purchase 100,000 artillery shells for our howitzers, in order to help beat back the Russians, please contribute whatever you can. Our goal is to raise $250 million usd to facilitate the purchase..."

That would go viral throughout the world and within 30 days, I predict that the fundraiser would be complete and the funds would be collected.

Situation in the frontline for Ukraine getting summed up by a German journalist:

An MLRS usually fitted with 40 rockets, the unit they visited has only 4 munitions that they can't even use because they're only authorized to use it when 'absolutely necessary '

If people think that substitute FPV drones helps, sure it helps. But not as much as people mighty think

In my opinion, this is prime time for Russia to maul the Ukrainian army of the Donbass, the lines are wearing down, no ammo, no equipment and most importantly no morale as most of these men manning the Ukrainian lines are either overworked infantry that has been there without rest for 2 years and forcefully conscripted men snatched from the streets.

Conversely, this is the perfect time for Ukraine to trade open swaths of land, for time. Ukraine's flat, wide open terrain makes advancements (for either side) extremely costly. Ukraine needs to consolidate manpower, conserve vital war resources and await substantial re-supply of weaponry, as well as air support. In doing so, they can use a combination of drones, mines, rationed artillery and ATGMs to maul advancing Russian units, driving up the casualties on the advancing Russians. Sometimes elasticity in your defensive structure is the best method for defending.
