The Armed Forces of Ukraine told about the modernization of weapons

Only the hull remains of the old Soviet tanks in the modernized models. The situation is similar with Mi-8MSB helicopters.

Ukraine does not yet have money for a complete modernization of military equipment, but a partial one is being successfully carried out. The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Valeriy Zaluzhny told about this in an interview with Radio Liberty.

According to him, the renewal of weapons will take place as soon as the state obtains funds for this, work is already underway.

"It will depend on how the state will be able to meet our needs. There really is a need for this. Indeed, there is! It is necessary to change tanks and helicopters there," he said.

As an example of modernization, Zaluzhny cited Mi-8MSB helicopters.

"Only one fuselage remained from this helicopter from Soviet times, everything else is produced on the territory of Ukraine," he said.

Of the tanks now, according to the commander, half have been modernized.

"So, today we cannot 100% ensure the modernization of the same tanks, but today 50% of them are already modernized. Again, only the corps remained from the Soviet tank," Zaluzhny said.

He added that modernization work continues.
