Global is a bit much. It will have continental consequences. I like Caspian report and I had a very good conversation with him about 7 years ago about UK geo-politics.

The main consequence is that Russia has prove the capacity to conduct a large land war, the first nation to prove this since the Gulf war in the 1990. So the Russians military is clearly very capable and the most experienced in the world now.

The Russian weaknesses are clear though as well, most were well known before this war. They lack naval aviation and they lack numbers of man power. In everything else they are excellent.

The NATO reaction will be weak because the NATO nations are weak, Russia is not a threat to anyone. It doesn't have the man power, the Russian's goal is to remove the US from Europe, so it becomes the major continental power. However Turkey/France are rising powers now. So even if the Americans finally thank GOD leave Europe, the Russians will be checked.

Russia with Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Armenia and Kazakhstan is basically the perfect position for them. They don't need the massive buffers anymore, they have nukes. So nobody will mess with them. The problem for the Russians was their economic market and the threat of no strategic depth at all. With this clear Russian victory in this war, then goes Moldova as well.
