Why local Tibetans like to buy Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, can Chinese domestic SUV catch up?

Most local Tibetans like to buy Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, cause big SUVs are better suited to the harsh terrains in Tibet. but how come local Tibetans almost all have expensive cars and people can rarely see budget cars which are common in other parts of China? Cause Tibetans have many ways to make money, they generally make more money than salary making people in big cities.

Tibetan herders have large number of yaks and sheep, one yak is worth over 10,000 Yuan ($1600), a sheep is worth 1300-1500 ( $220), Tibetans have large farmlands and they grow extra food to sell, besides, Tibetans also collect expensive Chinese medicine herbs which are easy to find in Tibet and super expensive in the Chinese inland market. it's not uncommon for Tibetans to have 1 million Yuan ($155,000).

Historic reason is In 1972, Japanese delegation visited China and gifted Tibet 3 Toyota LC62 SUVs, the symbol of Toyota really resembles the head of Tibetan Yak, this symbol left very good impression to the local Tibetans.

Now Chinese domestic SUVs are slowing catching up, sometime people can also see Chinese domestic SUVs in Tibet, they may still need some time to catch up with Prados but they have a bright future in Tibet.
