As you know there is a rapprochement effort between Turkey and Israel, Egypt, KSA, UAE. All they have in common is their anti-Iran stance. Most of them suffer from Iran backed forces in Middle East. I believe they need Turkey's help against Iran and its militias. Will Turkey fully oppose Iran? What's the best option for Turkey:

1- Join Israel, Egypt, KSA, UAE axis. Oppose Iran and its militias with them.
2- Stay neutral, don't intervene at all. Follow your own interests without joining any of them.
3- Join Axis of Resistance, oppose US and Israel, and their allies in middle east.

I think it's natural for Turkey, the Gulf states and Israel to have some sort of rapprochement. Iran regional ambitions clashes with many security interest of the MENA countries.

Iran has always been our enemy for centuries just like Russia.

Our political interests always have clashed.

Interesting part is how Iran for centuries was ruled by Turkic People but still did not stop the Turks from Anatolia and the Turks from Iran fighting each other.

Option number 2 pretty much;

Although Türkiye and Iran have some friction in some areas we do not want to see Iran weakened as that invites instability in the region. On the other hand helping the Arab nations feel safe by offering some of our defense systems and providing them with the outputs of our economy will serve purposes of Turkey very well.

Problem is, Iran and its militias are a big source of instability in the region. They have been targetting pro-west countries in Middle East. Except Israel, these countries are kind of paper tigers, powerful on paper but militarily incompetent in reality, no matter how well they are armed. Israel has a big problem too, a very powerful Iran backed force Hezbollah, right next to their borders. They need a powerful ally like Turkey. If we leave the pro-west axis and Iran own their own, Iran will keep spreading its influence in the region and get more and more powerful. Then what's next? Then maybe they can feel bold enough to target Turkey too. This is not about choosing the pro-west side because we love them very much, it's more about stopping Iran and its influence before they get too powerful. If we don't start to oppose Iran, it will be much more harder to stop them in the future.

Please read this everyone:

Iran can not get too strong as they are technology deprived, manpower alone does not make a big difference. We can not offer political support to Israel as Israel is a problem itself being expanSionist.

Option no.2 for Turkey is by far the best option

Lets not forget that Turkey has a Muslim Shite minority that wanna independence. Iran has shown that it excels in causing such havoc. Turkey rn doesnt need another pain in the ass

Turkey should remain neutral especially since not only can Iran cause political imbalance, but is also a mjor immigration route and a source of cheap gas

Lets be friends with Iran until at least some of the pre-mentioned points are solved

Shias in Turkey are quite different than other Shias of Middle East. First they are called Alevis. They are mostly Kemalists and loyal to Turkey. Some minority of them are radical leftist, not fond of Turkey, but would hate mullahs even more. Now 10 percent of Alevis are Kurds, and i'm guessing they are not loyal to Turkey. But their numbers are really small.

Azeris on the hand are big group in Iran, many of them are not so loyal to Iran. They want to unify with northern Azerbaijan.

As you can see it's the opposite, it's the Iranian side who would lose more in a conflict.

Thx guys, I just checked
I actually thought that most of the kurds in Turkey are shia..... my mistake
I guess we learn a new thing every day

Regardless though, I still believe that option no.2 is better since Iran can still radicalise the kurds even more to ask for their independence and gain their.... so called delusional Great Kurdistan

As far as I know that majority of the kurds in turkey are shite right?

Yoh have no idea. Ottomans strengthened shia shafi Kurds to counter alevi Turkmens.

Before Ottomans, southeast Anatolia was a majority Turkmen place.

And no Turkey never had a shia minority that wanted independence.

People look at Iran and its military crippled by sanctions, and think they are weak. What people need to understand is that their power comes from all the militias they arm and train. Here, ask Israelis if Hezbollah for example is weak:

Iran attacks Turkish bases in Iraq. Another attack happened just after Sinjar-Syria airstrikes.
Turns blind eye to PKK, operating cross border in Iran to Turkey.
Sinjar PKK operates under Iranian proxies.

Iran excels at developing asymmetrical threats because they lack of access to conventional weapons. They will be a bigger threat than PKK in Iraq operations. When countering Iran, why we have to align with Israel? Both have their place as regional competitors/adversary.

Turkey is also trying to lessen dependence on Iranian gas, buying more Kurdish gas and turning KRG into its oil and gas powerhouse.

Yes, dependency on Iran is a big problem, if Turkey to oppose Iran. Finding other sources is crucial.

Let the past beside. I prefer an Arab+Iran+Türkiye alliance. If not possible, we must stop Iran influence in Iraq and Syria.
