History of the Tunisian National Guard:
After declaring complete independence on March 20, 1956, “a High order” was issued on September 06, 1956 by the Grand Minister, the head of the government, and it was the first organizational order for the National Guard following the declaration of complete independence.
Since the issuance of the order dated September 06, 1656 to establish the National Guard Corps, the Tunisian government took the initiative to establish a school for the National Guard, and they took the Bey barracks in Hammam Al-Anf as their headquarters. The period of military training that the agents of the first regiment who were elected in the Boufisha and Jendouba camps spent 40 days, concluded with a final exam, after which they set out to work in the center that received it from the French government according to an agreement between the two parties, in six stages, starting from November to December 31, 1956
The National Guard made an effective contribution to the battles of consolidating sovereignty, independence, and evacuation. its sons had the pride of participating and the honor of martyrdom in these battles that culminated in the evacuation of the last Frenchman from Tunisian territory.
