LPD and PKR at the same time is still possible in the past.
PAL also build 2 KCR 60 at the same time...but the complexity of AH140 makes those comparison of PKR and LPD looks pale imo,

PAL LPD is actually smaller than the AH140 which is basically a destroyer in all but name.

so consider we don't build 2 LPD at the same time, I don't think we'll ever build 2 destroyer at the same time either.

but that's just my opinion.

Exactly.

We don't build ship this size in parallel, just look at the LPD and Hospital ship PAL build.

But it is still possible to "nyicil" some of the modules / lego parts.

Its good that the whole ship (both AH140 and FREMM) will be constructed in here (I am just guessing) unlike PKR which 2 of the 6 modules constructed in Netherlands.

I am not against operating SSN, but right now we should focus getting SSK,
agreed, adding SSN in our inventory would make more headache.

from maintaining, we didn't have much experience handling nuclear stuff and given our track record in maintenance, well...

basing. we must establish a plan if we wanted to operate SSN, where we wanted to base those sub ? if it in surabaya, what the procedure when there's a reactor leak when the sub on port ? -remember surabaya is our second largest city- and if it in palu what happen if there a large earthquake + tsunami like in 2018?
a new base, where? how much investment?

training, we must establish new training procedure

decommissioning, what to do when the sub come to it's end of life, where we wanted to store the radioactive waste?, how we going to dismantle the submarine?

etc
etc

I highly doubt we can put Brahmos either.

24 MR is camm-er albatros ng in 4 x 6 cell launcher, available if the front CIWS removed.
This set up, the most expensive one with 32 VLS, 24 camm er, 16 SSM costs about 100-150$ million depending on the missiles, if LRSAM is SM2 blk4 or aster 30 then even more.
The ship's costs may reach to be on par with bergamini class or even exceed it.

24 is not 3x 8 mk41 but 4x6, small caliber albatros ng /camm er with gws 26/36. It fits into the front bay where ciws is optionally available.

4x8 mk41 is base 140 design

4x4 SSM is optional if placed like IH. However i doubt but doable.
The matter is the price.
Yup, PAL did not specifically mention the type of the VLSs

+ "What are you building? Destroyers? Frigates?'
- "No, just two small OPVs"
+ "Small? They're almost 140 meters in length!"
- "Well, they're still smaller than an aircraft carrier, no?"

is it just me or our navy prefer the multiple of 12 on our warship for VLS instead of 16 like normal navies do.

Martadinata = 12 VLS (SAM)
Arrowhead 140 =24 VLS (SAM)

other navies usually goes with 16,32,48,64,96....
AFAIK it was the matter of VLS size and available space in the boat.

Take Sylver and Mk41 as example, both has capability to launch SCALP, then both have almost identical space.

Different approach will be occur when talking about size of the boat , and VLS mechanism.

What are we gonna classify it?

We are buying the design license for 2 of AH140 that is modified for Indonesian requirements and we will build it in Indonesia, so... technically we can call it "karya anak bangsa" and we can slap "Made in Indonesia" sticker on it.
As long as PAL don't claim as the one who make the design.

PKR?

Since our navy doesn't really follow the 'classical' naming convention, the "PKR" designation can mean anything from corvette, frigate, destroyer, and probably up to cruiser class as long as they're armed with missiles.

That... that actually makes sense.
Ladies and gentlemen you have heard about PKR 10514 and now please welcome Indonesian newest ship PKR 14020 and PKR13320.

KCR 60 -> PKR 608

Bruh

Screw with the Cruiser, Destroyer, Frigate, Corvette classification, it is PKR all the way.

several Baracuda SSN
Well, if only France see Indonesia as an potential buyer and partner. And if only France have balls to offer such SSN to 08 directly without this and that limitation perhaps Indonesia will accept it hence with unknown capability to maintenance and pay the boat.

If such contract signed within a year or two, i believe it will get commisioned before AUKUS SSN touch the water.

Go guys, another day dream topic

Will Australian new submarine have nuclear weapons or only nuclear propulsion?
Our MoFA reacted quite strongly, it is understandable because it will be right in our backyard but did our MoFA also made some noises when Brazil want to get nuclear submarine back then?

Thanks Kunming for your incursion in our ZEE. more upgunned stuff will be delivered because China show off
That's because of incident involving Chinese coast guard and their maritime militia years ago, but now China deployed their warship so maybe the next item that we will get in the future should be like... what? SSN? Aircraft carrier? Gundam?
