Where does India get the imported coal from ? 2/3 China coal import comes from Indonesia.

Man, that Indonesia coal producer is now start paying a lot of their debt during this period :geek:

Largest Installment, Bakrie Group Mining Issuer Pays 15th Debt Rp1.1 T

The total debt that has been paid by the Bakrie Group entity, Bumi Resources, consists of principal tranche A of US$ 282.4 million and interest of US$ 161.4 million.

China produces a lot of coal, China still needs to buy coal from around the world because China's industrial and manufacturing needs for coal are so massive, China is being name tagged the factory of the world, it comes with the energy consumption of the world.
China now is trying to reduce the use of coal and change the structure of China's energy supply, it's not without difficulties, but it's a neccessity and China is very determined to take it head on.

China imports 6% of its Coal consumption from foreign countries.

China consumes too much coal, this issue has to be fixed, even with some short term pains. China's greatest strength is her ability to make and execute long term plans.

Most of India's coal imports come from: Australia, Indonesia and South Africa....US to some degree as well.

About 300 - 400 million metric tons a year in total, or about 20 - 25 billion USD in recent years.

India also produces about 750 million metric tons itself.

So you can say total consumption in recent years is about 1.1 billion tons of it per year....and about 1/3rd via import.

More stuff driving butthurt among some (combined with unicorn news)....

Can confidently say they will not be doing this even in 50 years time...and results will speak for themselves this decade even more and the next ones after even more so.

Why Indians "banter" with the butthurt types means those Indians have an inferiority butthurt complex themselves (and often play this out on fellow Indians quite recklessly too).

Do better things with your time.....leave trash-heap complex to fester with itself and CCP-bot and islamist vultures that love that stuff.

A sad reflection on us (of its own kind) squandering our potential needlessly too.

@Nilgiri your thoughts

this problem will be fix when CN's population drop to 100 million instead of 1,4 billion, due to CN's birth rate keep dropping fast when million Cnese realize that its hopeless to find jobs after 35 year old

“I’m almost 50. Am I going to look for jobs? No. There’s nothing for me out there. Finding jobs is too difficult,” Huang said. “Just look at how bad business is in those clothing retail shops in Guangzhou, you will get an idea how bad wholesaling and manufacturing garments is at the moment.”
On Zhihu, China’s version of the American question and answer website Quora, a discussion thread called “How does a 40-year-old unemployed individual live on?” has clocked up more than 27 million views since 2019. In post after post, users share their frustration about trying to find work in their middle age.

And the situation only appears to have deteriorated with the pandemic.

Tang Ying, 36, has found herself in the grips of insomnia and depression lately while grappling with the possibility of losing her job as a front desk administrative employee at a small tech firm in Guangzhou.

The past year has been a nightmare for Tang: her marriage fell apart and she contracted tuberculosis, an infectious disease affecting lungs.

When she went back to her job after recovering, the company gave her more work than usual, something she perceived to mean they wanted her to quit.

Many places only want people under 35. I have been battling with this thought a lot

Tang Ying

Yet, she has stayed on, concerned her lack of a university degree will mean she is unable to find work elsewhere.

“I’m scared. I don’t have confidence in sending out resumes,” said Tang, who worked at a call centre as a customer service operator previously.

“Many places only want people under 35. I have been battling with this thought a lot. All I think of is trying to hold on to this job.”

A graduate school degree and work experience for some of the nation’s biggest tech companies does not necessarily give you an edge either, said 38-year-old Jim Yang, whose position as a former salesman at telecoms giant Huawei was ended by the firm three years ago.

-----------------

As a consequence, nearly half of the job applicants above 35 fell from middle or high-income groups to low income because their earnings had dropped, according to the study.

More than 70 per cent said they face pressure meeting mortgage payments and other costs, such as children’s education and medical bills. The study also estimated a third of them could only survive at current spending levels for 3 months.

Age discrimination is illegal in many countries, but not in China, which is facing a rapidly ageing population and shrinking workforce after more than three decades of the one-child policy.

Wages go up and down, it's very natural, during the pandemic , many industries decrease and increase their wages, it's very common all around the world, China's unemployment rate is still very low in the world.

Yeah, but when wages going down, it make CN's birth rate keep dropping bcs Cnese can't find good enough jobs to survive.

Yeah, but when wages goign down, it make CN's birth rate keep dropping.
A factory's or an industry's wage change means nothing to a whole country's overall wage level, China's wage in general still goes up every year, so your example of a factory or a specific company's situation means nothing, companies raise and lower their pay all the time in every country, check out the national statistics and get a bigger picture.

18,000 crore INR = 2.4 billion USD

Self-Reliance In Battery Manufacturing: Govt Invites Global Bids To Build Giga-Scale Advanced Chemistry Cell Making Units

  • Advanced Chemistry Cells (ACC) are the new generation of advanced storage technologies that can store electric energy.
There is a negligible investment in manufacturing and value addition of ACCs in India.
All the demand for the ACCs in India is currently being met through imports, particularly from China and Taiwan.
Thus, the union government has invited global bids to set up greenfield giga-scale ACC manufacturing units in India.
The sector can attract a direct investment of around Rs 45,000 crore and import substitution of around Rs 20,000 crore every year.
The union government has invited global bids to set up greenfield giga-scale Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) manufacturing units in India to make the country self-reliant in battery consuming sectors like consumer electronics, electric vehicles, advanced electricity grids, solar rooftop etc.

ACCs are the new generation of advanced storage technologies that can store electric energy either as electrochemical or as chemical energy and convert it back to electric power as and when required.

While several companies have already started investing in battery packs, though these facilities' capacities are too small compared to global averages, there still is a negligible investment in manufacturing and value addition of ACCs in India.

According to the bid document accessed by News18, each bidder would have to commit to set-up an ACC manufacturing facility of a minimum five GWh capacity with Value-Addition of a minimum of 25 per cent within two years and a minimum of 60 per cent within five years.

The selected firm will establish the project with a minimum of Rs 250 crore per GWh, which will exclude the cost of land, the bid document says.

Either local or foreign or a consortium can execute the project of setting up ACC manufacturing units.

Reportedly, the government will facilitate an enabling ecosystem for the same, including signing tripartite agreements between a company, a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) of the Centre, and the state governments. The bids will be opened in January next year.

India's Dependence On Imports

All the demand for the ACCs in India is currently being met through imports, particularly from China and Taiwan.

In 2019-20, India had imported Lithium-ion and Lithium (primary cells and batteries) worth Rs 8,818 crore and exported the same worth of just Rs 69 crore.

As per analytics consultant Global Data, the global demand for lithium is expected to double to 1,17,400 mt by 2024 from an estimated 47,300 mt in 2020. The increase in demand is due to the likely rise in electric vehicle battery production.

Thus import substitution in this sector is more significant than ever, and the Modi government has brought out a national programme to achieve it.

Rs 18,000 Crore Scheme To Propel Domestic ACC Manufacturing

In May 2021, the union government approved the Production Linked incentive Scheme (PLI) to manufacture Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) in the country.

The total outlay of the scheme is Rs 18,100 crore for five years. The PLI scheme 'National Programme on Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) Battery Storage' envisages achieving a manufacturing capacity of fifty (50) GigaWatt Hour (GWh) of ACC and five GWh of niche ACC.

ACC battery Storage manufacturers will be selected through a transparent, competitive bidding process. The manufacturing facility would have to be commissioned within two years. The incentive will be disbursed after that over five years.

The scheme proposes a production linked subsidy based on applicable subsidy per KWh and percentage of value addition achieved on actual sales made by the manufacturers who set up production units.

Vast Benefits If The Scheme Succeeds

Besides setting up a cumulative 50 GWh of ACC manufacturing facilities in India, the programme can attract a direct investment of around Rs 45,000 crore in ACC Battery storage manufacturing projects and import substitution of around Rs 20,000 crore every year.

Domestic manufacturing may decrease prices, create a manufacturing ecosystem in the sector, and facilitate demand creation for battery storage in India.

Also, the government estimates that the ACCs manufactured under the programme are expected to accelerate EV adoption. Thus, net savings of Indian Rs 2,00,000 crore to Rs 2,50,000 crore on oil import bill reduction is anticipated during this scheme.

Overall, the success of the PLI scheme on ACC can provide impetus to research and development to achieve higher specific energy density and cycles in ACC and promote newer and niche cell technologies.

No different from other countries, but unlike most countries, China's economy grew last year , especially in maunfacturing sector due to the surge of demand globally, the rest of the world was all shut down and China was the only country that production functioned normally, so many employee in this sector got big a salary boost.

" so many employee in this sector got big a salary boost ", nice...but why CN's birth rate still dropping ?? bcs "so many employee" actually less than 200 millions while the rest (600 million CNese employee) lost jobs or salaries cut half.

Why has lying flat resonated with ordinary Chinese?

Similar stories about unmotivated Chinese youth have also circulated in the past. One involved a group of young migrant workers who self-mockingly called themselves the “Sanhe gods” and would roam around the Sanhe area of Shenzhen’s Longhua district. Having grown tired of working long hours in factories for little pay, they instead took occasional one-off jobs as labourers and received cash for a day’s work.

Their motto was, “With one day’s pay, you can have fun for three days.” They slept in public parks, ate instant noodles and spent time in internet bars until they ran out of money. But local authorities eventually cracked down on the “Sanhe gods”, and their story never gained the type of notoriety nor longevity that “lying flat” has.

In the internet era when countless posts feature complaints and gripes about personal struggles and the hardships of life, the concept of lying flat stands out because of its philosophical undertones that serve not as a call to action, but to inaction.

“Since there has never really been an ideological trend exalting human subjectivity in this land, I shall create it for myself,” Luo said. “Lying down is my wise-man movement.”
The ethos struck a chord with much of China’s young and disenchanted workforce that has been hit particularly hard by the nation’s economic slowdown, trade tensions with the West and the coronavirus pandemic.

This followed years of being spoon-fed the rose-tinted propaganda of Xi’s “Chinese dream” with the promise of a bright future for the nation and a “better life” for themselves. It became especially hard to swallow for the millions who have slaved away in China “996” culture of overwork – meaning shifts from 9am to 9pm, six days a week – and still cannot afford a home, much less achieve a happy work-life balance.
And an increasing number have lost the motivation to even try.
Why China’s youth are ‘lying flat’ in protest of their bleak economic prospects
14 Jun 2021
1635153613376.png

What risks does lying flat pose to China?

From white-collar workers in China’s bustling cities to university students, an army of frustrated young people took to social media and internet message boards in recent months to declare themselves “‘lying flat youth”.

And across the country, T-shirts printed with “Do nothing lie flat youth” have become hot selling items. Authorities have been scrambling to suppress the phenomenon, fearing that it could challenge the established social and economic order.
In the long run, lying flat could not only affect Chinese consumption and growth, but also lower the birth rate that is already eating up the country’s demographic dividend and threatening its social welfare system, according to economists and social commentators.
Psychologists and doctors also warn that prolonged inactivity raises the risk of life-threatening physical and mental disorders, including heart disease and depression.

It is easy to understand the anxiety of Chinese authorities over the lying-flat attitude, said Dr Gavin Sin Hin Chiu, an independent commentator and former associate professor at Shenzhen University.
“If it becomes widespread, it will affect young people’s expectations of income growth, consumption, marriage and childbirth, which will be detrimental to China’s ability to avoid the middle-income trap, where growth stagnates and incomes stall,” he said.

Do I have to explain the so obvious? Almost all countries experienced this when they developed up to certain level, the birth rate and the development level are almost always the opposite, only super poor countries have super high birth rate, China also had super high birth rate when China was super poor. You really should learn some common sense when you've got time.
