How nice would it be if turkey finally came closer to Russia? If Assad weren't there, Russia could do 50/50 with Turkey on Libya, Turkey is more valuable than Egypt or Armenia, I'm sure... the SU57 is a Gen 5+ jet that is practically offered to us, so why hesitate? I don't understand all these happenings atm - what do we gain out of this devote stance towards the US etc? I am not talking about leaving NATO - but instead of France sckn in Russia - we could be friends with Russia, like in 1920

I think the point the greek guy is missing is that Yayci holds a degree and not just a retired officer. So he’s the perfect vandidate to run thinktank. Also Turkey doesn’t have that many specialists like Yayci. Imo it should have been specialist maritime law ppl that ran the think tank.

While accusing Greece of seeking to "get its hands" on sea areas belonging to Turkey, retired admiral Deniz Kutluk says "We can capture the French aircraft carrier in two days".

I will have to find that video where he says that. He’s pretty impressive. He keeps pointing towards that Greek reservation on UN ICJ is blocking any chance of solution in aegean sea especially regarding the islands.

I suppose it's this one.

He is talking about capturing the illegally militarized islands in 48 hours.

"Illegally militarized islands" are not a term or point of view. They are decided to be demilitarized by Treaty of Lausanne (1923) and Paris Peace Treaty (1947).

That was in 2018*, and tables have turned. Greece's and EU's unfair and impractical EEZ claims in East Med has changed people's mind.
The way people interprets that, EU backs SEA countries against China's 9 dash line, but on the other hand, intends to impose the similar one-sided unfair EEZ in East Med is independent of the political view. And the worse, unlike AKP supporter who follows whatever Erdogan says, the opposition composed of more educated people who can judge the situation better.
Bad new to EU, this time opposition isn't on their side either.

Note: I am on the Opposition.

*Correction, i didn't see last part of the image. it is from 2020

Token assistance? Only the Spanish frigates have more AA firepower than all the Turkish fleet....likewise for the Dutch....the Italians are in another league....I'm not counting all the Eurofighters, Rafales, F18s and what not....
Do you really believe Italy and Spain would step into a conflict which is unrelated to them?
Oh especially Netherland or Germany would bother themselves into this?
Greece will be alone in the field, backed in diplomatic ways or soft force (embargo, EW, intelligence) the way they were in Liberation of Cyprus.

Judging from how things escalate currently, what would be EU's stance if Greece has fired the first bullet, mesmerized-encouraged by the support they received from EU, specifically from France?

I think, Europeans problem is with Erdogan in general. I don't think they even know the map of East Mediterranean. Or even know they problem between Turkey and Greece. They are just giving support to Greece so that they can be against Erdogan. But this time they are against 83 million and they are not even aware of it. Weird times.

I dunno, like in 1974 we invaded Cyprus and they did nothing. We had Kardak and many other problems with Greece in the last 70 years. Today is very different from the past. i think the main cause Erdogan and his foreign policy.

And also Greece's EEZ = EU's EEZ in economical terms , this is another reason.
France's actions in favor of Russia*,in Libya has already led to a disagreement between members, they are also using this case as a reason to unify.

Well, this time they choose a very wrong topic to unify. Protecting our rights is no different than our independence war.

Well I think they imposed sanctions in 1974 and supplied greece with high tech weapons, and they didn't even support Italy in covid 19 outbreak and you think they will do the same for Greece ?

they put a crushing embargo on our country so that people were unable to buy sugar, bread, etc - with taxes beyond a few hundred % - even though we were on the right side, with the law on our side, legitimated by the contracts signed as a guarantee - Predator is in this term totally right - it is not about the current gov. it is about fulfilling the wishes and dreams of the powers after WW1 - to get the Turks off the EU border - back to the Altay
