What does point defence do? Engages enemy missiles that enter its range. I am wondering if it would be possible to use shorter, within visual range air to air missiles to target enemy air to air missiles that are targeting your own jet, instead of using them to directly attack the enemy jet. Since air to air engagements are being done from farther and farther away, shorter range missiles are just there for the most part; however, if they could be used as point defence, it would add another layer of protection to a jet.

Is it clear enough yet?

Is possible but would be a close one

In this possible scenario, enemy missile would be coming at you from X with speed a, your plane would release two short range missiles at point Y and keep going away, while your missiles move towards interception point Z at speed b. If the planes sensors and computer can calculate the missiles approximate speed when it is detected (assuming it can be detected, of course, otherwise the whole point is moot), the missiles could be given a general direction and distance to travel and then use their own passive and active sensors to explode in proximity of the enemy missile.

It would be a risky, probably second to last ditch attempt at saving the plane and the pilot; pretty much the same idea as PDMS and those new lightweight anti-torpedo torpedoes several companies have been working on. Just, a lot fucking faster.

Come to think of it, I just remember it is more or less like this scene from the Expanse, but obviously not... sci-fi. Instead of missiles flying along the plane, they'll be released and instead of creating a cloud of radiation or whatever before the other missile arrives, they'll explode in proximity to create a cloud of fragments and shrapnel.

Milliyet claims the F110 purchase is for 20 Block 10 jets and 8 spares, 48 total.

"Deliveries of the first batch of 20 KAAN Block-10 aircraft to the Air Force are scheduled to begin in 2028. Forty of the 48 engines planned to be procured from the U.S.—40 of which are twin-engine models—will be used in the serial production of the KAAN Block-10. Starting in 2028, the goal is to transition to domestically produced engines. Once the KAAN enters service, it will perform autonomous formation flights alongside the Anka-3 and Kızılelma unmanned combat aircraft. Thus, these two unmanned combat aircraft will serve as mission partners for the KAAN—an aircraft with stealth capabilities—sharing the same characteristics. The “Chameleon” UAV—which leaves an F-16 radar signature to deceive the enemy—and the “Super Şimşek,” which features loitering munition capabilities, will further enhance the capabilities of these three aircraft. "

"2028 onwards" claim for TF35000 is of course unrealistic.

Transition to using the TF35k engine after 2028 is the plan, confirmed once again. The only variable in this case is how mature the engine will be when it is used. With Kaan being a smart device it should be able to adjust itself to the performance of the engine and not lead to failures by remaining inside safe parameters.

I am certain that the talks with GE hasn't been concluded, so where does Milliyets 48 engine come from ?

We managed to get approval for 80 engines and that is including spare right ?

I think it's stupid if we get anything less than all those 80 engines.

Bro its just some crap they literally wrote 40 of those are twin engine model but why should we buy single engine model for kaan unless the included spare engines for our F16 as well which i haven't heard.

I am eagerly awaiting the flight of the KAAN P1. Some sources point to Victory Day on August 30th, but I hope we see KAAN's new prototype in the sky as soon as possible.

Do the proportions in this AI-made side view of the KAAN look right?

MKE 2025 yearly report says that they finished RnD for Radar absorbent Nano materials that can be used as structural elements in aircrafts. Doubt it would be used in Kaan but I don't know where else to put it

Cant even build proper munitions/guns in the past but all of a sudden its LM. We have a couple of smaller companies working on Ram coating but those are most like the more budget friendly options to reduce Rcs without great investments. At most these are for guided munitions

Yeah it saying it can be used as structural material made me think of Kamikaze drones. It is probably a composite that will slightly reduce the rcs or that would be the most logical explanation

So yeah I hope someone took screenshots of the ~ last week pages on this important thread given convo heavy basis etc...to patch in/restore now...... as the forum rollback (to get the AZ-ARM thread back that was accidentally perma deleted) happened ahead of schedule before I could get here.

If not, if members can think back to sufficient degree what were the main updates/news that guided the convo and just repost those....the convo can be regenerated organically etc.

If this can be done for all the main threads in general, that would be great.

Thank you for your understanding members.
