But why do you want it? Will it do what you want or will it do what somebody else wants?
if you can use them withouth switch off option and with localizied wewpoms that will be huge boost to turkish mikitary capabilities, if the tfx is sigth for next 2=5 years your poimt would be valid.

SPECIAL | US State Department Spokesperson: • There is no working group to "investigate" the CAATSA sanctions or the threat posed by the S-400 system to the F-35. • The impact of sanctions on existing military cooperation is consulted • We are determined to fully enforce the sanctions.

There may have been a misunderstanding. The joint group would focus on the issue of sanctions and not the S400 or F35.

Most probably it'll end up with Turkey being allowed back in the F-35 program while military observers are stationed in Turkey to make sure the F-35's not not operate in the vicinity of the S-400. Kinda like the arrangement the US has with the Pakistani air-force regarding the F-16's.
I dont think so, the only way for Turkey to participate in the program is to make up with Israel and restore the ties to the old level at the very least, Turkey getting banned from the program has nothing to do with S-400 if you ask me.
Not that i would have anything against it, it would be one of the rare wise FP decisions Turkey made in recent years.

I guess Erdogan agrees with me on this one:

Turkey hopes for better relations with Israel, Erdoğan says

Israeli lobby is incredibly strong especially since the last decade, having Israel on your side is the same as having USA have your back.
Turkey made a lot profits in the decades long relationship with US and Israel, we could literally watch it all falling apart after the Flotilla circus of Erdogan.

A solution such as you describe above will give US , even if it is restricted, quite a bit of control over our military activities.
But the whole case is like a double edged razor. Difficult to handle!
But the solution lies in good relations with Israel and clever diplomacy.

No kill switch not possible. TFX fully built in 2-5 year highly likely.

That was first step of moving away from west patronage and posturing itself on world scene.

Its not very wise to create enemies out of nowhere no matter what the objective is, you should espacially not alienate those you can make profit of, Erdogan finally realized it but its too late for him, the damage is already done, we can only hope for the next goverment to be better in diplomacy.

So it happened without asking.
Americans are multi-headed like the quantum states they are both doing and not doing things at the same time.

I think it makes no difference, this government will be in power until next month and the incoming adminstration will change everything. So even if there was somekind of working group, what value does it have if they will have a new president next month.

If there were a working group, it would have been established - under the recommendation of current administration - by Pentagon. If pentagon and TSK start working, you can not just pull the plug.
From what I can gather, Pentagon is trying to assess the damage the current sanctions are going to have on the US-Turkey defence alliance. Our guys saw this request as a working group to solve current problems. (In other words our guys jumped the gun and misinformed the Turkish FM).

Pentagon already denied Çavuşoğlu's statements. Pointed that there are no work group for S-400 and they fully support the sanctions on Turkey.

if tensions with russia gets intense then i expect when turkey has it's own air defence will sell its s400 to nato to know its secrets
US knows S-400 pretty well already.

on the contrary, you show some backbone and gained respect, that is always success, what would be unsuccessfull is that usa continued to tighten the grip, we are witnessing opposite.
Buying weapons from country which kills ur soldiers shows respect and backbone?

Yes! But not when I had wrıtten this 5 days ago. In fact I had then realised that our side was jumping the gun! Cavusoglu should have checked properly what the pentagon was asking for before jumping on the band wagon!
