I am not sure these numbers matters for the common citizen who’s economic pp is measured in what expenses they have and how they are going to make ends meet.

It’s like wall street rising to new heights while common citizen reaches new lows.

ERDOGAN: WHAT'S IMPORTANT IS CUTTING INFLATION BY CUTTING RATES So much for the TRY uptrend

He knows what is better better than anyone else.
Those who are happy with high interest rates are just leaches that are asking to be thrown out.

Yeah I'm a leach and so is everyone with a bit of knowledge about economics.

Nah, nobody in Turkey defends high interest rates. People with basic economy knowledge knows that if you keep low interest rate despite of high inflation, foreign curriencies will soar and fuel inflation much more, and economy will enter a death spiral. We saw that with Erdogan's son-in-law.

On the other hand high interest rates cuts down investment, unemployment soars.

What needs to be done is the reforms but we know that Erdogan can't do that. So, we will see economy going worse every month with Erdogan in the helm.

Let's put some data to back-up our speech.

UK says to sign free trade deal with Turkey on Tuesday

Britain and Turkey are set to sign a free trade deal on Tuesday, the U.K. trade ministry said on Sunday, the first since Prime Minister Boris Johnson secured a new trade agreement with the European Union.
The two nations will sign a deal that replicates the existing trading terms between Ankara and London, but British trade minister Liz Truss said that she was hopeful a bespoke deal between the countries could be struck soon.

“The deal we expect to sign this week locks in tariff-free trading arrangements and will help support our trading relationship. It will provide certainty for thousands of jobs across the UK in the manufacturing, automotive and steel industries,” Truss said in a statement.

“We now look forward to working with Turkey towards an ambitious tailor-made UK-Turkey trade agreement in the near future.”

The trading relationship was worth 18.6 billion pounds ($25.25 billion) in 2019, and Britain said it was the fifth biggest trade deal the trade ministry had negotiated after agreements with Japan, Canada, Switzerland and Norway.

Britain has now signed trade agreements with 62 countries ahead of the end of the Brexit transition period on Jan. 1, when it leaves the EU’s trading arrangements.

It clinched its narrow trade deal with the EU, its biggest trading partner, last week.

His statement hasn't triggered the hike in the markets neither was this trend restricted to the Turkish Lira but, ofc, it would be better if he just doesn't comment publicly.

You cannot make this comparison. It was not a government-imposed embargo. A private company is always free to choose its business partner.

Priority should always be given to domestic producers.
lots of people are not aware of it but lack of container becme a very very serious issue infact... most of the shipping lines are giving places and booking for mid feb vessels this is just crazy. This problem reached to a point that eventually it will effect our export figures. You are manufacturing the orders of your customers but you are unable to send them. for last 2 mounts people are having this problem but now it became crtitical. And can you imagine the cost of an import container from China is 10.000 USD nowadays

Well, I assume Turkish government was aware of it when he company producing containers went bankrupt. Anyway, good thing about COVID is it has showed the dependence on China, and the need for diversified supply chain. All harbours in Turkey should be required to buy domestic containers for freight, and in case of shortage there will always be domestic production.
