To some degree sure....but Indonesia should be defensively oriented as far as possible.

US is power projection oriented for large part, so they always look at what can make up the bulk of squadron strength for air warfare after their top spearheads punch through, you dont need spearhead after spearhead basically.

INA on other hand I feel needs to have the best possible thing as its not looking for the same doctrine of warfare, but rather maximum deterrence to a much larger adversary....and inflict as much pain as possible if things do get to a war. I think it needs as much as spearhead tier stuff as possible, integrated well with each other (and sufficient protection given for their perseverance)....for this doctrine.

Rather than look at bulk squadron kind of thing (as USAF has always done and tried to optimise...so 4.5 gen "follow ons" makes lot more sense for them to look at). I do not see Indonesia needing that doctrine at least till 2050.,,if it ever really needs it at all.

New fleets consist of F15 EX and Rafale R3 is quite formidable as defense platform oriented. They can almost match whatever China and Russian Made fighter throw into the South China Sea and even better as F15 EX is touted as the best truck Missiles platform and joint train them with the like minded Air Force like Singapore and Australia in the region this will become utter deterrence setting at any theater we had cross over with them.

BTW if Indonesia seriously consider F15EX, i hope we are open minded enough to see Australia DoD Boeing Loyal Wingman initiative, looking for opportunity and joint them in near future if chance is available as such concept Will be force multiplier for any Air Force who had structure limitation like Indonesia and Australia.

The EPAWSS is not being made available for export, however.

EPAWSS is useful to defend against modern SAM.

Without the EPAWSS, our F-15EX will probably use the old AN/ALQ-135 TEWS.

Interesting to see how it fares against China's maritime platform SAM.

From the Geopolitical consideration thing . The US were highly benefitted from equipped us with the F 15 EX . We would be the first credible " Tester " for any of future " mainland VS anyone " conflict . Unlike Japan and Sokor we are not bound with any of their geographical nor cultural limitation ( nor bounded with a senseless allience and whatnot ) hence we get more free and swift in whatever what is may come as free and unfettered player in the region and free provider for whatever intel it's worth .
But it got it's downside too tho' ... Without a perfect calculation on our side we would get flatly bulldozed by the mainland alone .

The funny thing is, I've been thinking along the same lines. But it was specifically like this:

If - God forbid - there's an armed conflict happening between us and China, and then our F-15EX got shot down, we'll be seen as incompetent by some parties since they might still hold to their view that the F-15 is undefeatable.

Rafale or no Rafale, Eagle or no Eagle, alone we'll be guaranteed stomped by the Northern giant, what we could do is to complicate or make the risk calculation high enough that the CCP leadership think twice before going rogue in Asia, and this applies not only to us, but basically all countries neighboring China.

Some adventures are not for the painthearted . Without some pain there would be no gain hence it would best of US interest to properly equipped and train us to the best of their abilities ( If we seal the deal there ... A big IF !! )
Since if we were to be shot down/get martyred without even some gained intel or worthed political martyred moves then all of this war preparation and plausible deniability moves are for a naught then .
When i mean properly i was mean a real prop of tech supports and weapon acces on par with the US . Because when we are going to start marching in we are fully in neck deep and fully committed to the end and no half measured steps is going to make us committed to the cause .

There is no doubt about it at all ... Hence why i said we are not taking any half measured reception from US . Either they supported us fully or we aren't moving according to their tunes at all . And even if we are " Dancing " we are dancing on our dangdut rhytm not on their whistle .
No more tim-tim expediency

this thread gonna be really active "wkwkwk" :D
Only for about 2 weeks at most. Either something new came out, or everything's will be postponed indefinitely (cancelled). Which is why I'm trying to keep the hype up, that way if things went south it's going to hurt further 😈

for me it's "salah tafsir" they quote same as other news but this one is the only one that stated we buy used F-15....the reporter interpret F-15 EX as F-15 EKS??
Apparently some here are also incline to thinking toward the same thing

Most of the test & evaluation are done virtually rather than building a scale down model or prototype.
Ya, that's really cool. I just found that Dassault also made its own btw... The name is CATIA. I'm curious of what applications used by LM and Boeing.

Indonesia's plan to purchase F-15EX, Rafale jets 'separate' from KF-X joint fighter development program: DAPA

22:54 February 20, 2021

SEOUL, Feb. 20 -- South Korea's arms procurement agency said Saturday that Indonesia's reported plan to purchase F-15EX jets from the U.S. defense giant, Boeing, and France's Rafale fighters is "separate" from a joint warplane development project between the two countries.

Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) made the comment after reports emerged that the Southeast Asian country plans to purchase the fighters between 2021 and 2024 amid speculation that it might want to quit the KF-X joint fighter development program with Korea.

"We assess that (Indonesia's purchase plan) is a matter separate from the KF-X joint development scheme," the DAPA said in a press release. "It is a move that Indonesia has already been seeking to boost Indonesia's Air Force power.

DAPA also noted that Indonesia has expressed its intention to continue to participate in the KF-X project.

"Through multiple working-level consultations, the two countries have been conducting negotiations in a mutually beneficial way," it said.

How about making NATO style organization? Thats a really strong Deterrent Effect actually.

Article 5 of NATO is really the "Deterrent Effect" of all of the NATO members. If ONE country is attacked/invaded, all NATO members HAVE a responsibility to act against the invader.

9/11 activated the Article 5, so its all NATO members responsibility to attack Al-Qaeda back, especially the one in Afghanistan.

Not while many of ASEAN countries officials are in good economic terms with China. When I said good economic terms that's because many of China's economic projects in ASEAN are deeply tied with companies owned by officials in the government. So they benefit from it and likely shy away from making moves that anger the country.

That explains why we still don't have any sort of alliances even though naturally we should consider the looming threat. Your "bebas aktif" foreign policy will be a laughing stock once another Pacific war broke out.

If you ask me, the only hope ASEAN have is in the form of QUAD. They are what stood between China and having total control over Asia. Only naive believe the otherwise.
