All of the Turkish air defense and A-A missiles(excluding Sungur mandaps) have a two-way datalink.
"BOZDOĞAN şu an ki haliyle hedefini vurma konusunda çok yetenekli. Lakin yakın gelecekte füzeye eklenecek veri ağı ve atış sonrası kilitlenme kabiliyeti JHMCS gibi kasklar ile beraber kullanıldığında pilotun işi çok daha kolaylaşmış olacak ve füzenin angajman zarfı büyük ordan genişleyecek."

Data-Link and lock-on after launch is in the pipe works for Bozdogan.

seeker image is not as good as AİM9x
Bozdogan footage doesn't show the missile at close range to the target like the AIM9x footage does. When the AIM9x is not close to the target, the 2 footages look almost exactly the same.

Yes. Datalink test will be done this year. All of the A-A and air defense missile projects other than Sungur MANPADS include a datalink.

True. This is a smart message to the observers. Look our missile seeker can see targets over 20kms. Untrained people will think it is a shitty image. The real experts got the massage.

By the way as Ahmet Türkeş's statement Bozdoğan weights 140kg's. Which is 50kg heavier than Aim-9X. Maybe with a larger engine, it may have more range.

I didn't say its shitty. But it looks worse than Aim-9X at first look. Maybe telemetry datalink can't transmit good quality video? But I think thats because of Şimşek target drones thermal signature. In the video you can't exactly see drones "shape" which is a IIR seekers main way to CCM, but a huge IR signature of Şimşek.

True, and also the fact that the AIM9x was a top-down shot viewing a turning target from the top/side, while Bozdogan was shot at the Simsek coming directly head-on, which is the hardest angle for an IR detector to see.

This is a small step in terms of our WVR air to air missile development but a big step in our air to air missile program. Now we can look forward to a family of missiles and of course a ramjet version as well. They will all come one after the other.
One thing that is bewildering however, is the effective range given for Bozdogan as being 25km. Starting point of this missile was Aim-9X Sidewinder. The US missile is smaller in dimensions and lighter in weight with a top speed of 2.5+ Mach and has a range of 35km. Our missile has a top speed of 4+ Mach. Yet a lower effective range.
Either Tubitak is being too conservative in it’s release of technical specifications, or our missile’s weight and size is hindering it’s overall effective range.

This is limited to the seeker's capability, if you look at the size dimensions of the rocket motor for both WVR and BVR missiles they are roughly around the same size, being that they are in the same family. Like MICA A2A missiles etc..

Could also be due to differences in how the range is specified. Could be missile's maximum flight range, or maximum no-escape zone, or maximum engagement range, then there's release speed, release altitude...
