Recently the Navy Chief had made a plea to the MoD to go ahead with the retirement of 10 ships.
in which I quoted:
"Resources to revive the ten ageing ships could be better deployed to improve the operational capabilities of vessels such as the Diponegoro-class corvettes, said Indonesia’s navy chief. "
If this is true, then I believe the 4 Diponegoro's are likely to be upgraded in the future, Indonesia in the past had invested in advanced EW jammer on this ships by installing GPS jammers, Decoys which are all soft kill system.
As the Mistrals are inadequate for anti ship killing mission, I suppose the Navy Chief will decide to upgrade the Ships with Hard kill weapons system. Looking at how the US recent push on arms sales , the warming up with Prabowo and the overall Indonesian willingness to do upgrades based on the US model like that of the F-16 MLU program, a missile based CIWS like that of a RIM-116 could one day installed onboard.
I mean the similarly sized K130 class corvettes used 2 for each ships
