Turkey's natural gas production increased by 343 percent this year

According to EMRA data, Turkey's natural gas imports decreased by approximately 5% in the first eight months of the year compared to the previous year, while natural gas production increased by approximately 343%.

Turkey's crude oil imports decreased by 7.11% in August compared to the previous year, reaching 2 million 649 thousand 870 tons.

The numbers show a decrease but this might also caused partly by a usual summer months slowdown of energy consumption.
But still the domestic production gaining some traction clearly.

*I know this is gas & oil exploration thread but it’s the most related to the post at the moment.

There is something more interesting in this report. He did not mention but export numbers are booming too. Actual number is more than 5%. I did not calculated but roughly %8-9 it must be.

Dont know about oil, but gas export deals will increase automatically. Not because of our own sources but remember that at least two countries have signed deals to buy LNG through Turkish terminals.

Google says it's around 1 million barrels a day but the tweet you posted yields around 20 million barrels a month.

Something between 240 mio- 365 mio barrel. Is that correct?
Guys if these numbers accurate, you’re right. I mean, 240 M barrels production vs 365 M barrels consumption. It’s like 2/3 of our annual consumption and I’d say we’re out of the woods for crying out loud because last time I checked our annual domestic production to domestic consumption was around 10%!

If someone
You mean our export?
Yes. Recently Türkiye had some major agreements with some countries including Bulgaria and a few more. It may sounds weird one of the biggest winner of conflict of Russia - Ukraine will be Türkiye.
  1. Türkiye's unofficial aggrement with Russia to store Russian gas and sell over Türkiye.
  2. Türkiye's latest agreements with big LNG suppliers even including Total from France.
  3. Somali, Libya, Niger related developments.
I expect Türkiye's export will increase rapidly.

Continental Resources Signs JV to Explore Shale Oil, Gas in Turkey

Continental Resources has signed a joint venture (JV) deal with Türkiye Petroleum and TransAtlantic Petroleum to explore tight rock in Turkey.

The JV will explore Turkey’s unconventional oil and gas resources in the Diyarbakir Basin and Thrace Basin, Turkiye Petroleum said. Deal terms were not disclosed.

“The energy sector in Türkiye has a long and proud history, including major gas discoveries in the Black Sea and significant finds in the Garbar Mountain Range along the border with Iraq,” Turkiye Petroleum reported.

Continental Resources’ President and CEO Doug Lawler said the deal makes technical and commercial sense for the company.

“With 57 years of exploration experience, we recognize significant opportunities for further development both in the U.S. and internationally,” Lawler said. “We see immense potential in Turkey's untapped resources and are excited to collaborate with TransAtlantic and Turkiye Petroleum to explore and develop unconventional solutions that can unlock their full energy potential.”

Turkiye Petroleum reported Turkish Petroleum Corp. (TPAO), Turkey’s national oil company, “has conducted extensive analysis of the formations and reservoir quality in these two regions.

“Early evaluations suggest the ultimate recoverable reserves could reach 6 Bbbl of oil and 12 to 20 Tcf of gas in the Diyarbakir Basin and 20 to 45 Tcf in the Thrace Basin.”

The deal with Continental and TransAtlantic will accelerate development, it added.

“Continental Resources is led by renowned industry pioneer Harold Hamm and is the largest private oil and gas producer in the United States,” Turkiye Petroleum reported.

“They have been leaders in revolutionizing horizontal petroleum development.”

TransAtlantic has been operating in Türkiye for more than 17 years.

“This strategic partnership will enhance Türkiye's energy industry by bringing together technical expertise, cutting-edge technology and a commitment to environmental responsibility.

“By harnessing the success pioneered by the American independent petroleum industry, this collaboration will allow for the rapid development of Türkiye’s unconventional resources and pave the way for an energy renaissance.”

Harold Glenn Hamm (The Man in the upper left side of the Picture) is an American business magnate in the oil and gas business. He is known for pioneering fracking of shale oil resources. As of February 4, 2022, Hamm's net worth is estimated to be US$18.5 billion, making him the 63rd wealthiest person in the world.

We need more detail on this deal by experts on this subject. It might be really big deal that might increase our oil and gas production significantly.

6 BILLION BARRELS OF OIL? Recoverable? That number is much much more than our wildest dreams.
