Details of the Ukrainian operation Spider Web, an attack by FPV drones on Russian military airfields, have become known. The operation was prepared for 1.5 years, it was planned to attack the airfields "Belaya" - Irkutsk region, "Olenya" - Murmansk region, "Ukrainka" - Amur region, "Dyagilevo" - Ryazan region, "Ivanovo" - Ivanovo region. As a result, 2 airfields were attacked, "Belaya" - Irkutsk region and "Olenya" - Murmansk region. It is worth noting that the operation was truly large-scale. To carry out the operation, a warehouse was rented in Chelyabinsk, hundreds of FPV drones were delivered there, and later "mobile wooden houses". It is possible that the FPV drones were assembled on site. These houses were placed on trucks, and FPV drones were hidden under their roofs. The wooden structures were designed in such a way that their upper part could be opened remotely. From this warehouse, trucks were then sent to other cities, one of the truck drivers was later found dead. The drones were controlled on non-standard frequencies, so electronic warfare had no effect on them. Presumably, cellular communications were used to communicate with the drones, some sources reported on Starlink terminals located in the forests. Trucks with containers stopped on roads and parking lots, after which drones took off from there. One truck was blocked by drivers in the parking lot, in the video people throw stones at the top of the container with drones, it is worth noting that there is a police car nearby. It can be said that thanks to the drivers, many planes were saved. Several containers caught fire and exploded on the highway on the way to the airfields, presumably the drones overheated in the containers. The video shows a truck in the Amur Region, if it and other trucks had arrived, there would have been more destroyed planes. How this could have been prevented, first of all, this is the work of the special services, but they are now overloaded with identifying sabotage and terrorist attacks. It would be possible to reduce losses if the aircraft were placed in hangars, they have been talking about them for 3 years, but so far only projects have been shown. Also, we need anti-FPV groups. Cellular communications, including "Starlink", should be jammed at airfields. Electronic warfare and air defense systems are already present at some airfields, but no one expected threats from FPV. Also, we need anti-FPV groups now. It is worth noting that no air defense systems or air defense systems in the world can confidently hit FPV drones. Satellite images have already confirmed the destruction of three Tu-95MS and damage to one aircraft at the Belaya airfield, and four Tu-22M3s were destroyed. We also saw a burning An-12 on video, but it is not in the pictures. There is no video about the Olenya airfield, the SBU of Ukraine did not show anything, but there was a fire there. Thus, the loss of 40 aircraft is not confirmed at the moment, but videos may appear later. It turned out to be a fake that the drones had artificial intelligence, and in the video they were controlled by operators.

Let's be very clear, Putin is not using a nuclear weapon. If he does use a tactical nuke it will immediately draw the much more powerful West into the war, they'll put a "no fly zone" over Ukraine, Russia's land forces will be sitting ducks, and the Chinese will immediately cut ties with Russia as a result of their transgression.

Any nuclear weapon launched against a serious NATO player would see Moscow and / or St. Petersburgh turned to glass and the people of those cities turned to dust in nuclear retaliation. Nobody wants that.
Putin might not choose to use a nuclear response but that doesnt mean a nuclear response is impossible. For one it's now a legal order to use a nuclear response to conventional attacks inside the Russian chain of command. Theres a zillion scenarios where Putin doesnt even have to be in the loop or even decapitated and a nuclear response is used.

Most of the worlds cities will be turned into glass in a full nuclear exchange. If Russia were to use a nuke, lets say one tactical nuke in a Ukrainian city, the ball will be thrust into the West court to escalate. You think NATO will respond in a way that brings a full blown nuclear exchange ending the world over one tactical nuke being deployed in some Ukrainian city? Thats the question. Russian red lines are being tested and crossed. Will Russia respond by testing a NATO red line?

Aselsan today 🤣

ASELSAN’s Anti-Drone System İHTAR 100, aims to neutralize mini and micro UAV threats in urban and rural environments.

KORKUT 150/35 Gun System has capability of firing ATOM 35 mm Airburst Ammunition highly improves the effectiveness of ground based air defense against modern air threats including missiles, FPV drones and UAVs.

what's so funny i don't get it?

Looking at the published images and videos by Ukraine, it shows how pathetic the level of protection of russian air bases is.
Those used fpv drones from yesterday look like just regular ones without fiber optic cables. And in one video you can see that those drones landed slowly on the targets before detonation. So russia had several ways to take them out.

You know those drones were launched from inside Russia?

And?
It shows that those air bases had no appropriate air defense systems.
They have but not for ''small'' threats and not from inside of the country.
As you can see by some footage, they used anti drone weapons/guns at the facilities(oil, airports) with no effect.

You know that anti drone systems have a max range of few kilometers?
What do you want to say by repeating that those drones were launched inside russia?

You mean that small arms fire?

For how many years is russia know fighting against an opponent, who heavily uses small drones?

That's not what I said, at all.

I said that a tactical nuclear weapon used in Ukraine would lead to the West imposing a no fly zone over Ukraine, which would spell disaster for the Russian war effort on the ground.

I said that only a nuclear weapon used on a NATO city would lead to a nuclear exchange. That's a huge difference.

Do you really expect them to have anti drone systems in place when the facilities hit are hundreds of kilometers away from the borders?
S-300/400/500 yes but anti drone weapons for small drones with a max range of 10/20/30kms?
What do you want to say by repeating that those drones were launched inside russia?
Yes they were transported with trucks a couple of kilometers away from their targets, whats not to understand?

You mean that small arms fire?
Not small arms, some kind of Russian anti drone rifle/gun.

For how many years is russia know fighting against an opponent, who heavily uses small drones?
Yes but again, small drones cant reach a couple of hundreds of kms inside Russia.
There is the difference.

Its extremely hard to defend against a swarm of small drones, especially since Russia is a large country and you don't know where they come from, certainly nobody expected it to come from inside Russia and so deep in Russia.
Some drones will surely penetrate and do damage.

So I don't think Russia showed they are incompetent in this regard, I think they certainly showed they are incompetent in other regards tho.
Considering how long the war is going on and considering that drones are increasingly more valuable on the battlefield and the new era of warfare, its quite shocking and incompetent to have such high valuable assets such as strategic bombers in the open like that, to be target practice for drones.

Certainly they have had enough time and realization to be able to build bunkers/shelters for the strategic aviation.

But seems like not lol.

I wouldn't be so sure about that.
Truthfully, I'm not. If it was a nuclear power, surely, but I'm not convinced the same protection would be guaranteed to a non-nuclear member.

Although, God willing, it would. Watching the people of Moscow or another major Russian city vaporized into the history books due to the Government that they support's actions would be "chef's kiss". There is nothing more fun than watching arrogant, orcish Russians get humbled and subjected to their own cruelty. I've long accepted that justice is fleeting in this world, but sign me up for that outcome.

It isn't. Same Olenya airbase was hit last year as well. Scope of the attack is much larger and sophisticated, but most of the airbases that were hit were also hit earlier during the war as well.
