Fatahillah and Malahayati Class Warships to be Strengthened with CMS Made by PT PAL

GtQaq2PbkAAkm4Z.jpg

The Combat Management System (CMS) developed by PT PAL Indonesia is planned to be installed on the Fatahillah and Malahayati class warships, in order to improve the combat capabilities of the corvettes.

Developed since 2022, CMS is a system that integrates sensors to weapons in a warship. Then, this system provides a comprehensive view of the tactical situation and helps decision making.

"CMS calculates from all sensors and will provide input to the commander to use which weapon is most effective against the threat being faced at that time," said Enjud Darojat as General Manager of the Sewaco Division of PT PAL, in an interview on the sidelines of the Indo Defense 2024 Expo & Forum exhibition in Jakarta, Saturday (14/6).

He said that CMS is like the heart during war on a ship. Thus, it is very important for Indonesia to develop this system as well as an effort to encourage the independence of the defense industry.

After being developed for more than three years, this system is believed to meet the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) of more than 50 percent. The plan is, starting in 2026 this system will strengthen five Fast Patrol Boat (FPB) 57 class Missile Fast Boats (KCR) and Fatahillah and Malahayati class warships.

"The plan is, God willing, next year in 2026 we will start with the fast missile boats. Well, including yesterday we have surveyed for Fatahillah and Malahayati," he added. (bp)

The Indonesian Navy's helicopter, the Bell-412, will be modified to increase its ability to detect submarines.

This was revealed during the visit of the Commander of the Naval Aviation Center (Danpuspenerbal) Rear Admiral Bayu Alisyahbana at the Indo Defense 2024 defense equipment exhibition, some time ago.

The Head of the Information Service (Kadispen) of Puspenerbal, Navy Colonel (KH) Rohman Arif, said that the plan is for the Bell-412 helicopter to be modified to be equipped with dipping sonar.

Dipping sonar is a type of portable sonar that is lowered into the sea from a helicopter and then lifted after scanning. This system provides a lightweight and easy-to-move detection sensor to find and track submarines.

"(During the visit to Indo Defense) Danpuspenerbal discussed the modification of the Bell-412 helicopter which will be equipped with Helras dipping sonar in a cooperation program with PT DI," said Rohman in his statement, quoted Monday (16/6).

The Indonesian Navy Aviation Center (Puspenerbal) plans to install a mission system on the CN235, which is a maritime patrol aircraft.

Therefore, the Commander of Puspenerbal Rear Admiral Bayu Alisyahbana visited the Indo Defense 2024 defense equipment exhibition, Jakarta, Thursday (12/6) to visit a number of defense industries such as Thales, MBDA, Airbus Helicopter, and Lockheed Martin.

"The main focus of this visit is to explore options for increasing the capabilities of multirole anti-submarine and surface helicopters and plans to install a mission system on the CN235, a grant from the US embassy through ODC," said the Head of the Information Service (Kadispen) of Puspenerbal, Navy Colonel (KH) Rohman Arif in his statement, Monday (16/6).

The project itself comes from a US Navy contract obtained by ISD in early 2024. In the contract, ISD supports the upgrade of three aircraft for the Indonesian Navy, namely two CN235s and one Beechcraft King Air 350i.

The CN235 will be equipped with maritime surveillance radar, electro-optical or infrared sensors, automatic identification system equipment to identify ships, mission management systems, and data links.

The CN235 upgrade work is carried out locally, namely at PT DI facilities. (at)

and the british, is showing AH140 design with 2x76mm, a SMART-L, and idk about VLS. it looks like Seawolf or CAMM in Mushroom-Like VLS

The AH140 was supposed to be a cheap solution. Slow non-gas turbine, and cheaper CAMM Mushroom farm.

Saw an article where they questioned its affordability when the admiralty announced plans to possibly fit the Mk.41 VLS system. Surprised it threatened the affordability by that much.
