This bird has a “stated” maximum payload capacity of 280kg. The day we can fit an Orka torpedo (220kg) under it’s belly or a CAKIR AShM (275kg without booster) , will be the day when this UCAV is going to be a monster advantage for the TCG Anadolu. Especially if it can can be fitted and take off quickly from get go.
Technically it should have a LOS communication distance of 300km. That would give a very large operational radius when you include the missile’s and torpedoe’s effective ranges as well.

Can't they use another UAV/USV to relay the signals and expand its operational radius further?

That is a possibility. But if memory serves TB3 should have satellite communication capability. So as long as it can communicate with our satellites it can go 1000km and more (given max operational range is 1000nautical miles). But it has to be remembered that TB3 is not for force projection and attack only. It is there to provide defence for TCG Anadolu too. So by staying close by it will be performing that duty.

it should have more capacity once it's equipped with PD222

"The Baykar team is very satisfied with the PD-170 engine developed by TEI. The PD-222 engine will also be installed on the Bayraktar TB3 very soon."

This post is 8 months old but we heard no integration news as of yet.

TEI is also working on PD300H, which TB3 maybe will use too.

Please read below article. Especially this paragraph:

quote

How to determine the sea state?

The simplest way is through visual observation by experienced seafarers.
I am an experienced seafarer, I spent four and a half years in the Atlantic, the Pacific, the Baltic, the Mediterranean. I sailed as far as to Hawaii, Alaska, Bermuda, Azores, Panama Canal, North sea, practically most of NATO regions. One and a half years as a radio officer receiving weather reports for the captain. So yes I can judge sea state by looking at a video.

🚨 Defense Industry President Haluk Görgün:

▪The ISU Project will accelerate. We will gain strategic power with this project. They will be planes that can go farther and conduct air-to-air warfare.

▪It is extra important to have air-to-air missiles to be able to use them as air-to-air planes. We have started to develop domestic ammunition. We will continue to develop and produce.

That's the first one.

This is the second one that missed, came in too low, hit the dirt. May do a mission kill with shrapnel if the target was a 5 meter tall radar, but will have no effect on the target if it's armored by any level except for shockwave.

Yes it hit the dirt but that dirt is a pile of dirt with like a meter of height, if it weren't there the missile could hit the white.

Orka, CAKIR or a bit modified İHA 230 would be a nice addition to TB3 and therefore to ANADOLU. Ok not realy related but seems that succes rate of a torpedo is still far greater than a ASM.

Anyway, depending on the composition, A naval task force including ANADOLU/TB3 may have inherit limitations, which can or can not be remedied by inovative armament solutions for TB3 depending on scenario & enemy
