TR Turkish Air Forces|News & Discussion

Anyways, I think it's great for THK that the deal is going through. Also, stop with the "23 billion, it's a rip off" panic attack. The actual deal is very much going to be cheaper, with less items.

TR Turkish Air Forces|News & Discussion

For instance, Hanwha used to promote SOM-J in conjunction with Roketsan for ROKAF procurement. Just think about all the lost opportunity the SOM-J had which is now being monopolized by JSM. I still don't think T-LORAMIDS was in anyway worth it. I'm glad that Turks are starting to realize that as...

    TR TF-X KAAN Fighter Jet

Why do you think so? There's FADEC these days so there are much more flexibility in terms of how you operate engines. No, F-4s are already being replaced by F-35s, hence they are going to be retired this year. KF-21 is replacing the F-5 variants and F-16PBU.

Indonesia Indonesian Air Force, Tentara Nasional Indonesia-Angkatan Udara (TNI-AU)

Indonesia still is, and although you don't seem to know, they were planned to be part of the KF-X IF-X supply chain partner. I've explained it literally in the last page. It's just that Indonesia threw that opportunity away by not paying. Simple as that.

    Korea KF-X/ IF-X (KF-21) program

It says "plans" but its more like there's a consideration going on. Nothing's decided yet. Also, it says "reduce" but they are talking about shifting block 1 production to block 2, so instead of 40 + 80 they are considering 20 + 100 now. Stupid misleading news, seriously...

Indonesia Indonesian Air Force, Tentara Nasional Indonesia-Angkatan Udara (TNI-AU)

Technologies required to design fighter jet structure and aerodynamics =/= technologies that could only be used to develop fighter jets. How will you get into KF-X supply chain without being a program partner?

    India Navy SSK Submarines

I've just mentioned it since details regarding TKMS offer to India was not revealed in detail. There are speculations that they have offered Type 216, though I agree that most likely they've offered Type 218.

TR Happy Republic Day to Türkiye!

Happy centenary to the Turkish Republic, it's people and our Turkish friends in this forum. Me and my countrymen are grateful for the helping hand provided by the Turkish nationals during the Korean War still to this day. Congratulations for its legacy of the past century and hopefully we'll...

Indonesia Indonesian Air Force, Tentara Nasional Indonesia-Angkatan Udara (TNI-AU)

He's a weird guy who pretends like he's Japanese but is obviously Korean (and he's not hiding that either, which is even weirder) and even seems a bit chauvinistic time to time. Worse, he often gets his facts wrong concerning Korean weaponery and defense industry. What this guy says doesn't...

    India Navy SSK Submarines

BTW, someone who's visited Hanhwa booth in ADEX wrote in a Korean website that Hanhwa Ocean (formerly DSME) is not interested in P-75(I) anymore. So I think it's now a two-horse race between improved Kalvari with DRDO AIP and Type 216/218.

    Korea Army Helicopter programs

More in detail, one is a 1000+ SHP class engine primarily meant for UAV application, whereas another project is a 3000+ SHP class engine meant for the H-60 replacement I have mentioned above. The name of this program is Korea Next Generation Medium-Class Utility Helicopter. Prototype of the...

    Korea Army Helicopter programs

Harbin Z-9 is based on Dauphin, which is also the base model of EC155 that was sold over to KAI. Now KAI owns the principal production and commercial right to EC155, in form of LCH and LAH. Yes, Surion is based on H215C1 Cougar/Super Puma.

    Korea Army Helicopter programs

So far, KAI has only entered in one foreign helicopter program and that was in Philippines. Philippine Air Force was looking to import 11 helicopters and KAI offered the Korean Army KUH-1 model to Philippines. They've lost to Sikorsky's UH-60. Maybe they still have ambitions to offer Surion...

Korea Military Cargo Aircraft (and its variants) programs

That is true, and it's quite weird, since they were requesting Japan for information regarding C-2. I guess they have something more in mind. Though for now, a MOU is just a memorandum. So MC-X still has two big hurdles to overcome. First KAI has to convinve Korean AF and government that a...

    Korea KF-X/ IF-X (KF-21) program

IMO getting false promises are not that important. What really matters is what these companies offer in a written contract, and that's why its important to have competent bureaucrats which wouldn't get the government and taxpayers in trouble caused by some shady contractual schemes. We don't...

    Korea KF-X/ IF-X (KF-21) program

I think there are some misunderstandings, so I'll give you more details so that it's easier to understand the whole situation. To clarify, Korean MoD wanted to directly link the two separate fighter procurement programs (the third F-X program and KF-X program) through offset requirements...

TR Altay Main Battle Tank & Related Programs

Yes, I guess for the interim, going dual band is the most reliable solution afterall, although it makes the whole system more bulky, more expensive and complicated. That's the price you pay to pack all that situational awareness to a damn tank.

    Korea KF-X/ IF-X (KF-21) program

Unfortunately I haven't in this forum, and a lot of the stuff on internet are lost these days (LM made this offer around a decade ago, in 2013). One of the most comprehensive summary about the situation at the time was from Naeil Shinmun, a Korean newspaper, though all of their articles are...

Since this is going off-topic into KF-X related discussion, I'll answer in the KF-X thread. https://defencehub.live/threads/kf-x-if-x-kf-21-program.3154/page-18#post-295786

TR Altay Main Battle Tank & Related Programs

That's one possibility, but most 3rd gen ATGMs simply doesn't need LRF or are F&F (so not laser beam-riding). It will only work against some Russian and Chinese designs that use laser beam-riding, their gun-launched missiles and US Hellfire. US will soon transition to JAGM with multi-mode seeker...
