UK refuses to help Pakistani govt execute Nawaz Sharif's arrest warrants

You appear to be strongly convinced that the establishment [read military] orchestrates the political landscape of Pakistan but then your not able to provide a cogent reason as to the "why". Seems rather silly to me. Surely without a motive your argumant falls flat. How about another reason...

Is the age of tanks over ?

I would say it depends. If you think you will have air superiority then tanks are ideal as mobile strong points that can provide infantry cover and good in holding ground. However if you do not have air superiority then the tanks will just make juicy targets for enemy tank busting aircraft and...

    Azerbaijan Armenia Tensions

Apparently the existence of Europe hangs on shred of land next door to Iran. Most Europeans would even struggle to place it on the map leave alone take as their beating heart.

UK refuses to help Pakistani govt execute Nawaz Sharif's arrest warrants

Why did they let him go? Was this cat and mouse game? Where the cat let the mouse go just to prove how agile it is in grabbing it again?

    Azerbaijan Armenia Tensions

Yep. According to Armenia PM this is a 'civilizational' war and fate of Europe hangs on Nagorna-Karabak. If it falls, next Vienna in Austria will fall and Europe will be overwhelmed by Turks. This is delusional stuff.

Casual Discussion Where will you go after lockdowns are over and flight tickets don't cost an organ? I am putting in my top 5 that I have visited before.

And I would love to do the Levant including the Fertile Crescent - cradle of human civilization. Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Israel [I exclude Arabian peninsula from this category] but shame about the politicial chaos there.

Depends by which measure. By developing world standand, yes. By British standards, no. But probably upper middle class and well off. This class includes lawyers, doctors, senior civil service, senior military and successful small scale business owners.

For me nothing that takes longer than 8 hour flight from UK which conveniently includes Pakistan but leaves everything east as beyond the pale for me. So in no particular order - Istanbul [again] Kyiv - Just the curiousity Barcelona - there is a small thriving Pakistani community there and I...

A Growing need for Minority Protection Laws

A state that selects a relgion is by definition never going to be "of equals by equals" simply because by selecting it is elevating one over others. This is simply introducing prejudice into it's very DNA. All that follows is natural. When you cough, sneeze and you hae cold. The cold is the...

A Growing need for Minority Protection Laws

A good example of this dichotomy is I am against corporal punishment for any crime. However if something were to happen to my family member I might react entirely differantly. This is what I mean by collective ideals and individual failings.

A Growing need for Minority Protection Laws

Informed and cultivated in British political thought I would support absolute equality of all citizens regardless of gender, sexual bent, disability, religion or no religion. This must be the first and last basis of any civilized state. Equality to all must be the cardinal truth on which...

    Azerbaijan Armenia Tensions

Your not gonna find many countries with better position then Pakistan with regards to Armenia. Pakistan is the only country in the world that does not recognize Armenia as a state. Primary causes of the two countries' diplomatic rift are the Armenian Genocide and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict...

UK refuses to help Pakistani govt execute Nawaz Sharif's arrest warrants

I depends. Some countries have used such methods very efectively. The real rub is in what you cultivate. If it is Islamists then expect them to morph into a global Islamist, trans-national ventures down the road. This is what Pakistan did. If on other hand o cultivate intensely nationalist...

    Azerbaijan Armenia Tensions

War is chaos. Things can get out. I would not be surprised if on the Armenian side there are 'volunteers' from across the globe. Agreed. What a shame. It's amazing how things can get appropriated. We use the "Zindabad" as in long live. Indians used to use "Jai" but now I often see them using it...

    Azerbaijan Armenia Tensions

As long as the objectives are met it matters nought how it is done. That is one lesson of history. What is war? Much as we may try to tame war but in reality war is a condition of anything goes. If Nagarno Karabak is freed nobody will give a flying fig in two decades. But what will of of import...

UK refuses to help Pakistani govt execute Nawaz Sharif's arrest warrants

Few thoughts on this - you can't blame the British government for this. They know this is not simple legal case but involves political consideration which could have strategic effect on British foreign relations relationship with the Pakistani state. For example it is very concievable [as has...
