With recent passive dual-band seekers you don't need last-second adjustments through fiber optic wires. Jamming is overrated, wasn't a problem for Akeron & likes in Ukraine.

Yeah, until now many tripod-launched ATGMs with longer range use wires. In future they'll cut them lose, costs of seekers+data links go down and as you said, wires make operating teams vulnerable to attacks.

Afaik fiber optic cables are deemed superior to fire-and-forget data links only for heavy torpedoes launched from submarines.
