TR Air-Force TF-X KAAN Fighter Jet

When I drew attention to economic mismanagement (eg not dealing with inflation) I was not suggesting that the KAAN project would be cancelled. I was suggesting it would be difficult to find partners who would bring capital into the project. Inflation is 61.5% US$/lira exchange rate was 18.96...

TR Air-Force TF-X KAAN Fighter Jet

The aviation press told me. https://www.defensenews.com/air/2023/08/31/turkey-seeks-partners-for-tf-x-fighter-program-amid-fiscal-uncertainty/ PS Something that friendly countries could do is to indicate the level of orders they might place. Non-commital memoranda of understanding would be...

TR Air-Force TF-X KAAN Fighter Jet

Annual inflation is reported to be 61.5%. In Europe it is more like 5%. It looks like the government is spectacularly incompetent at managing the economy. Will foreign countries be put off getting involved in the KAAN project? Would I invest in a venture in Turkiye which has an insane level...

TR Air-Force TF-X KAAN Fighter Jet

My apologies. I was confused by thinking that plan was for the engine to be integrated on the KAAN in 2028 and to fly that year. I await seeing what results are shown by the TF6000 when it is run. Just a thought: the KAAN might fly before the Indian AMCA prototype construction and testing...

TR Air-Force TF-X KAAN Fighter Jet

Thanks. It is speculative. I think I read it on a forum devoted to Tempest/GCAP. Dating back to 2020 - before the Tempest programme link up with Japan - here is a RR press release webpage which might be of interest...

TR Air-Force TF-X KAAN Fighter Jet

Almost no information regarding the Tempest programme is made public. It is speculated that it will be a very large aircraft. It is speculated that electrical power generation will be 400kw. The demonstrator being built may reveal the level of electrical power output. That sounds reasonable...

Does it matter what the Chinese say? The design is still fluid, so coating the canopy to lower radar return can be done at a later point. I presume that will not interfere with testing the rest of the aircraft.

Let's hope that TF 6000 comes good. Doesn't KAAN need an engine producing several times the thrust TF 6000 will produce? ie a very different engine

TR Air-Force TF-X KAAN Fighter Jet

I am curious about the upcoming first flight of the prototype Kaan. What systems not required for flight itself will be in the airframe and functional - radar, IRST etc? Given that there has not been a design freeze (as I understand things), I presume that any modifications to the airframe...

TR Air-Force TF-X KAAN Fighter Jet

I don't know much about the Turkish aviation industry nor do I know much about Turkish foreign political interaction with other states. Having said that, IMO the Kaan project is faced with these problems - US could block supply of US engines, crippling production. That is something that could...

TR F-16 Özgür | Hürkuş - Fighter Trainer Aircraft Projects

What about Pakistan doing a lease deal (like SAAB has with Czech Republic and Hungary for Gripen) for 10 years for a Chinese 5G aircraft? That would give time for Kaan's systems and new engine to be more fully developed before Pakistan started receiving deliveries from a Pakistan assembly plant...

TR Air-Force TF-X KAAN Fighter Jet

Thanks for the response. How would the indigenous engine be tested? Will there be a 4 engine flying test bed or will Kaan be used (1 x F110 + 1 x new engine)? I will be astonished if a new engine is tested and certified by 2028... but I have no idea what is going on behind closed doors. I...

TR Air-Force TF-X KAAN Fighter Jet

Been reading this thread for a time. Much informative input. I have some questions, please... 1 How secure is the supply of F110? Can US block it if it is made in Turkiye? 2 How much is the Kaan compromised by using the 'old' design F110? It has a low p/w ratio, I think. What about IR tracking...
