    TR Land Vehicle Programs

It is Interesting if for now Turkish military prioritize 8x8 Wheeled IFVs over tracked ones. While there is no doubt trakced IFV's provide better balsitic protection compared to Wheeled ones, however, as Ukraine conflict is showing direct IFV to IFV battle is rare occurring. And somewhat...

I don't understand, why Turkish army don't want it if they are going with tracked solution for their future manned IFVs. Besides, wasn't it designed by the same team that was behind Altay development?

Historical Combat, War, Geopolitics History and Analysis

I agree with the fact that military technology became too lethal (the kind of pioneers @Gary is Describing historically depended to a great extent on human physical strength and light infantry weapons, but thanks to increased automation with stand-off precision smart weapon systems, old concept...

@Nilgiri Any comment? I didn’t have enough time to read about Bengal famine in depth to reach any solid conclusion about the extent of Churchill's role in it. However, there is seems to something fishy about this 'uncensored history'. That guy didn’t even try present enough info to make a full...

I guess MURAD will cost $2.5 millions. And APG-83 cost around $2.5 millions. https://www.militaryaerospace.com/sensors/article/14286223/radar-jet-fighter-aesa While MURAD uses superior and relatively expensive GaN components, however Turkish hardwares are usually considerably cost effective...

If Akinci has MURAD AESA with exceptional range and it can carry at least 2x Gokhan, it may very become a credible hybrid BVR platform. Unlike, conventional solid fuel BVR A2A weapon which require being launched at supersonic speed and high altitude to maximise its effective range and no escape...

@Gary I read it. (All of it) Interesting, brief, and right on points. In a nutshell, it is a more developed and sophisticated version of Ibn Khaldun's theory. However, there are some oversimplification and broad generalization which may not hold true. While his six stages of rise and fall of...

I started to think, Hurjet looks more and more attractive for BAF's need (As replacement for obsolete 36x F-7) given the range of capabilities it will offer in the near future within such cost effective package. However, US engine will probably continue to be a hurdle for its export...

Land launched range is 1/3 of air launched range. GOKDEMIR probably has effective range of 30km. NASAM uses AIM120 C-5/7 which also has similar air launched range to GOKDOGAN. And AIM-120 C-5/7 has land laucned effective range of 30km.

Sorry, didn't understand the question. Edit- OK got it. Yes in this sense it is similar.

    TR Air Defence Programs

Probably not. Current NASAM can fire a hybrid version of ESSM which has a effective range of 50km. Edit- However, I think GOKDEMIR can be scaled up like SYPDER family. With added booster, modification and necessary software upgrades GOKDEMIR could even acquire limited ABM capability.

I am actually thinking about future procurements. Both Greek air force and TurAF will probably have AIM-120 C-8 as (i read somewhere) Reytheon will only produce AIM-120 C-8/D from now on.

Hellenic F-16 Block 70 equipped with APG-83 and AIM-120 C-8/D VS TurAF F-16 equipped with MURAD and Gokdogan. It is a fun match up to watch.
