It seems like “engine” problem is causing another delay in our prototype production. Mark my word, TFX will be a victim of engine hold up too! When will we learn? Why not get your engine first. EJ200 or RD93 . Have them ready and then start development. Now they say engine won’t be coming in...

It is possible. Yes. But when you have two different forces (airforce and navy) that want different missiles for themselves, you get a Harpoon beater and a storm shadow lookalike. Now that we have Mr Ismail Demir in charge of all new such developments we hope that one Swiss knife that serves...

Two different designs. They are superior to each other in their own right. Atmaca There is a version that is being prepared for launching from land to sea targets. (The initial firing tests were done from land positions toward the sea) Also beach and inner areas of land will be targeted with the...

Are we writing in “Middle Eastern Political Situation” thread or Turkish Gulded munitions thread? If we get back to the main news; Yes the addition of SOM-C 1 & 2 to the range will be a game changer for all navies in the Eastern Mediterranean. A sea-skimming totally stealthy missile with a...

I did say that Russian missiles are good! And “cheap”. That is why US is buying space faring rockets from Russia. Gas is a natural resource!!?? You are correct. If Russians offer of TOT, involves real missile and radar tech transfer, all the merrier! Any less is not really interesting...

We can’t really turn our backs to the West completely. Our defence industry, for once, is based on Western technology. Machinery we use to produce the parts that make an engine or the fuselage of a plane, all come from the West. There may be a lot of friction between us. But we will have to...

Most modern jet fighters will cruise around 980km/hour (0.8 Mach) and at an altitude of around 40000ft. In fact that is the speed and altitude at which they are most efficient with respect to engine performance and fuel consumption. Unless there is an urgent battle, a plane has to join, it will...

900km/hr is not too slow a speed. OK, it is not supersonic. But remember that the next version of MIUS will be supersonic. Also in terms of agility I think it will outperform F16 Since there will be no G force constraints. In fact Mr Bayraktar specifically mentioned that it will fight against...

A car can be travelling at 200km/hour on a motorway, and you could be walking at a speed of 3km/hour. But if you adjust your speed and direction of walking well enough, you can still hit the car. S400 works somehow in a similar way. The 250 and 200km range missiles are capable of just about...

Good simple straightforward maths calculation. But, different airframes and different designs behave differently with respect to lift and speed through air. One simple example is F414 engine; Mako/Heat plane does max 1.6 Mach (single engined) Gripen jet does 2 Mach (single engined) HAL TED BF...

TB3 MTOW is going to be 1200 kg in total. MIUS is going to be in excess of 3500kg. It is difficult to use the same hydraulic arresting wire system for stopping both planes unless TB3 is extra strengthened or another method of varying the hydraulic pressure is found. Otherwise electromagnetic...

Drones like TB3 and subsonic/supersonic MIUS will be able to provide good defensive cover to TCG Anadolu. But we mustn’t forget that, all but foremost, this is an LHD (Landing Helicopter Dock). Hence has to be treated and deployed as such. Even if we had access to F35B planes, it would not have...

Then for a person like that, a great insight at least. That ship needs as much defensive missiles as you can cram in to it’s nooks and crannies. That is one expensive defensive set-up. But that ship needed something like that. Now it is the turn of ESSM or G40 launchers! That will complete one level of defence at least.

İbrahim Sunnetci had mentioned in one of his articles that an engine the size of TS1400 would lend itself to a turbofan with 8-9000lbf thrust if necessary changes to the flow characteristics of the engine were made. This would mean around 5-6000lbf dry thrust.
