Isn't that counter intuitive? I'd imagine a proper stealth air to air fighter would require more sophistication and TAI would have more experience on that subject, whereas Baykar would probably make a more cost effective multi purpose drone against weaker targets. So like a drone to fight...
Hürjet is not a fighter. There is a planned light attack craft version that is also not a multi-role fighter. It also has much more in common with 4th generation fighters than a 5th gen fighter. Making a twin engine naval version of Hürjet means making an entirely new, F18 A/B like fighter from...
What I wonder is if G40 can be used with a much smaller launcher from smaller ships that lack vls or have very few of them and easier to place on the deck, like a RAM launcher but with significantly longer maximum range. I imagine it would then be very useful for a large number of ships.
There are a few aspects to consider with eurofighter deal.
1. MMU has still a good while to start making deliveries. If first deliveries are made about 2030 it will still take a couple years to deliver initial batch. Then I imagine there would be some time before the next block starts serial...
Might make more sense for UCAV where you have no pilot and need to process more data before transmitting. Could be used to run a more complex AI model as well.
In robotics you have layered architectures where longer more complex planning tasks are run in parallel while system is continuing...
I was baffled at first, but this makes some sense. Istif have 16 vls each. They were supposed to be equipped with quad packed essm. Now we are going to use Siper and Hisar-D but these won't be quadpacked at the moment. So from 256 ESSM missiles we have gone down to 64 total for 4 ships, even if...
