Actually true , I wish Pakistan has the foresight to seek its own interests , not accept any one who steps forward to help. They are in the same position financially as we were in 1991, They need to tighten their belts and keep relations with both countries while pursuing their own path. Do things on their own terms not others. Its the reason Pakistan is what it is today financially . They keep working for others agenda.

nice use of crossed swords.

Pakistan must balance the relationship. This 'Hum tumharay hai' stuff is simply not realistic and Pakistan must make it very clear that it will balance the two relationships and look after its own interests. The problem is that currently Pakistan is trying to do that however 70 years of all in attitude and being 'Shah se Zaida Shah Ka wafadar' has created an image of such proportions that when we try to take the middle line, it is seen as nothing short of treachery and betrayal. Think of it this way. You would expect a stranger or a friend to look after his interest and not sacrifice way too much for you however from your loyal servant you would expect nothing short of absolute loyalty and this is where it hurts us when we try to take the middle road. The problem is the pendulum itself and it is now absolutely imperative that we take the middle road towards our own interest. The process will hurt since half the world will think we betrayed them however soon after things will stabilize.

I think its clear who are the evergreen allies of Pakistan but it makes no sense to degrade ties with the Arab nations and OIC. Especially when there are larger public and economic interests linked.
