50th Anniversary of the F-16!! I plan on being there, having gone to the 25yr Falcon Rejoin 25yrs ago. Some of us are trying to have a get together for all us former F-16 Flight Test folks on Weds night the 24th, so stay tuned. I will be in on the 24th and leaving the 26th.

The 416th Flight Test Squadron is hosting the F-16 “First Flight” 50th Anniversary Celebration at Edwards Air Force Base (AFB), California on Thursday, January 25, 2024. You are cordially invited to join us during this base-wide event for Department of Defense personnel, contractor personnel with valid ID cards, and special-invited guests for a fun day of celebration, aerial demonstrations, and activities.

412 TW/CC has authorized the F-16 Anniversary Ceremony and Air Demos/Flightline as an alternate duty location on Jan. 25, 2024, for up to 4 hours. Civilian employees must coordinate with their supervisors prior to attending for accountability purposes.

8 a.m. Event Open to Base Personnel
9-10:30 a.m. USAF Thunderbirds Winter Training
11-11:10 a.m. Post Colors/Welcome
11:10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Guest Speakers to include Gen. (Ret) Gary “Nordo” North (1st USAF F-16 Air to Air Kill), various F-16 operations veterans, & two Desert Storm POWs
12:45-2 p.m. ACC F-16 Demo Team/Tribute Formations
2:15-3:45 p.m. USAF Thunderbirds Winter Training
4 p.m. Flightline Secured
4-8 p.m. Hangar Party (18 years and older) featuring music by Dos Gringos and our local Numskulls; food, bar, and distinguished guest speakers

In addition to the scheduled events, the F-16 50th Celebration will also have static displays of F-16XL, the first F-16B, the X-62A VISTA, the Thunderbirds, Navy Aggressors, & more than 40 F-16s from around the country that will be flying in to be a part of our celebration. Furthermore, there will be STEM simulators and activities, F-16 engine and weapons displays, museum and history displays, 50th Anniversary memorabilia, the Blue Eagles Honor Guard, entertainment, food trucks and much more.
Come join us for this exciting event as we celebrate the amazing history of one of the world’s most successful fighter aircraft that all began with the first flight at Edwards AFB 50 years ago!
