Algeria - Morocco: Minister Belhimer returns to the "pegasus" scandal

Last july, the region was shaken by a big morocco-led espionage scandal through israeli software "pegasus". With this spyware, moroccan intelligence services closely monitored algeria, spying on the phones of several senior state officials as well as former army generals.
After the scandalous revelations, algeria opened a preliminary investigation. Carried out by the judicial police services specializing in the repression of offenses linked to cybercrime, the investigation is still ongoing, but this has not prevented Algeria from breaking its relations with Morocco for several reasons.
Belhimer returns to the scandal:
This week, communications minister ammar belhimer returned to the pegasus affair in an interview with the djazair el youm news site.
"The Moroccan-Zionist spy scandal via pegasus of a number of countries, officials and personalities confirms our statements on this dangerous espionage operation, which is not the first of its kind (...) we have unveiled the existed about two years ago, ”he said.
"Morocco has been carrying out espionage operations using French and Italian spyware since 2009, targeting people and organizations both inside and outside Morocco, don Algeria," Belhimer added, citing a survey conducted by the orient webzine xxi.
