Algerian authorities have offered Turkey new partnerships in the energy and mining sectors under a new hydrocarbons law, according to the North African country’s Energy Ministry.

The announcement came following a meeting late on Thursday between Algeria’s Energy Minister Mohamed Arkab and Turkish Ambassador in Algiers Mahinur Ozdemir Goktash.

Algeria's FM on Ties with Turkey:

Lamamra said relations between Algeria and Turkey are “deeply rooted in our shared history” and the two countries have “very strong spiritual links.”

“We also share aspirations for a better future. Turkey has invested a lot in economic development and partnership (with Algeria),” he said.

“We are looking to forward to more partnerships and more Turkish investments in Algeria,” the foreign minister said.

“We stand for diversification of the partnership. It has to be a forward-looking partnership and should encompass all areas of life.”

On the issue of Libya, Lamamra asserted that Algeria is ready to assist the Libyan people in any way possible to forge a democratic future.

He acknowledged Turkey as an “important player” that has “very strong relations” with Libya.

This is good developement of relations, actually more then good and that is hidden danger.
To good for Turkey to go without any obstacles, my primary concerns are activites from Egypt, they can be lured to do some stupid things in Lybia. Strong and prosperous North Africa is something that France will fight with tooth and nails against.

Turkey needs to boost their ties with muslim world but i think its about priorities to. If they want to expand their influence then they need to have some kind of economic capability so that they can invest in countries, and boost their trades. Most muslim countries are weak economically, and kind of dependent on the trade with the western world. We can see how low the trade volume is between turkeys close allies like pakistan and azerbaijan. Diplomacy comes either with trade or millitary deals.

Regarding North Africa, Algeria sees Turkey as an “important player” that has “very strong relations” with Libya, meaning Algeria will work together with Turkey to bring Libya back to stability.
- Algeria is ethnically much closer to Libya than Egypt which now has become an agent for the UAE and the GCC states.
-This means that Algeria might ally with Turkey to completely exclude the destructive influence of Gulf States on the Libyan situation, whether Egypt agrees or not.

I agree. I think they do try their best but still not Enough. However turkey will continue to grow amid pressure, and hopefully have a stronger purchase in near future.

That is the plan probably but that block has some cards to play to, what goes in their favour is that Turkey backed forces did not make decisive victory and they can drag and extend conflict in Lybia for long time.

Definitly. This is a interesting organisation but look at the achievment between this countries. D8 was founded in 1997.. Not even one of this countries are turkeys top 3 trading partner. But the countries in this economic organisation is the future! Bangladesh, indonesia and egypt espacially!

AFAIK Algeria is the 6th gas exporter in the world.
In December our gas contract -which supplies 10 times cheaper than current spot market - with Russia will finish, so Putin started blackmailing Turkey about İdlib issue.

İf it is possible to make pipeline from Algeria to Turkey, it will be great as Turkey is the 5th biggest gas importer.

LNG is expensive comparing With natural gas via pipeline.

There are lot of areas that are needed to be mastered from Turkey in order to replace western products amd solutions but not that much. Problem is, those one are crucial.

Egypt, since Anwar Sadat never had a sovereign foreign policy and can never be relied upon. Today, Sisi's regime is on UAE's payroll, tomorrow, who knows who will be Egypt's sponsor.

Only MENA countries with full national sovereignty and independence will align with Turkey. The others, who are vasal states under the dominion of Western powers, will never be permitted by their Western masters to side with Turkey in its ascending trend toward superpower status.

If im not mistaken the longest submarine gas line is the nord stream line. Going through the baltic sea from russia all the way to germany. The distance is aproximentaly 1200 km. The distance between algeria and turkey is atleast doble the nord stream link. The nord stream cost was atleast 10 billion.
