GENERAL ELECTRIC ALGERIA TURBINES «GEAT»

Building a First-of-its-Kind Facility in Africa

It all started with what seemed like an impossible dream sometime in 2013: to bring to Algeria’s High Plains city of Batna an advanced manufacturing, assembly, digital, service and repair center for the power generation sector that could be a shining beacon of what was possible not only for the country but also for the African continent.

Partnership for the Manufacture of Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, Alternators and Control-Command Systems. The Project aims to manufacture complex technology equipment in Algeria, namely; gas turbines, steam turbines, alternators and associated control-command (equipment constituting the power block) of the combined cycle, in partnership with GE Industrial France, 100% owned by General Electric Company USA. The industrial complex is located in Ain Yagout (Batna). It covers an area of 20 hectares. It consists of four (04) factories: Factory No. 1: Manufacture of gas turbines from 100 to 300 MW; Factory No. 2: Manufacture of steam turbines from 50 to 160 MW; Factory No. 3: Manufacture of alternators that will be coupled to the turbines to convert mechanical energy into electrical energy; Plant No. 4: Manufacture of control systems to equip the turbines manufactured in plants No. 1 and No. 2. Distribution of Share Capital between shareholders:

Sonelgaz 51%
GE Industriel 49%

In 2021, GE Algeria secured its first export contract for gas turbines and other equipments to a Middle Eastern country -Iraq - .
