Improvements are made in the survivability, fire control and mobility capabilities of our tanks in the inventory of the Land Forces Command, taking into account the changing threats, field of duty, and activity expectation to meet today's needs. Our tanks, which were previously modernized using foreign products, are equipped with completely domestic products, including their most critical systems.

In this framework, it is planned to modernize 81 Leopard 2A4 tanks to meet the needs of the modern battlefield.

In addition, by using the systems used in ALTAY and M60TM tanks in Leopard 2A4 tanks; It is aimed to provide logistical unity in operation, maintenance and maintenance issues.

I was surprised to actually see most of the members in this forum actually believe the bullshit statements from the current BMC leaders. I mean..... come on..... Turkey is producing ships, submarines, drones, flying aircrafts, and is one of the best constructors world wide and yet afetr they nearly complete the installation of some of the steel works in the factory, they suddenly realised that it is engulfed in water? Truly bullshit claims

This is good news! At least we will have 500 modern tanks that will be able to withstand some of today’s threats in battlefields. (169 M60TM + 331 modernised 2A4s)
if by 2027to 2028 we can have 250 Altay tanks as well, in view of where tanks are today, it could be enough for us. (Provided as promised, they start delivering first tanks next year this time, they need to up the production rate by a significant number - around 4-6 per month to make up for some of the lost time!)
Most important point is the presence of Akkor for these and future tanks, as well as many AFVs. It is not wise to send crews in unprotected armoured vehicles, to the battlefield.

1. if it is BMC that is going to do the modernisation, then it is under new ownership. Give them a chance to correct all the wrongs made in the past.
2. Somebody has to start this modernisation. My understanding is Aselsan and Roketsan are in charge of this modernisation.
3. Current administration may be trying to clean BMC’s badly tarnished name by giving the actual work to Aselsan and Roketsan. (Good try!!)
4. There is nothing to mess up! These tanks are like metal coffins as they are. We saw how many of them were knocked out in quick succession in Al Bab Syria. They should not be in front line as they are.
5. As long as it is Aselsan and Roketsan doing this modernisation we should have full confidence in their work.
