The 2 greatest weak spots of Turkish defence industry:

1- no national engine tech

2- no domestic air defence
You should explain you expectations or otherwise you re blind enough not to see developed engines from land systems to air systems being utilized by Tr army.

Think about this. Not a single turkish designed propulsion system hasnt been mass produced and mass integrated yet. I know several of them are in the process of being so but there is still a lot of propulsion classes for which turkish propulsion systems are not available especially in aviation. Turkey needs to step the game up, i know some of the projects are not going to be carried out because they don't seem economically feasible but they should put some trust in God and go All in.

I am not talking about little drone engines or shitty tractor engines or toy engines.

I am talking about real engines for battle tanks, fighter jets, warships, cars and helicopters.

1500 HP is too much for the generator in the serial hybrid system, there is no need for that much power. 800 HP is enough.

In addition, the Batu is already as compact an engine as it can be, due to the criteria it has to meet.
You have put your finger on the correct point. If you check the MKE’s hybrid solution, they do not use the diesel generator’s internal combustion power for traction. The total power generation is used for: electrical power generation and charging the battery pack.
The resultant electrical power output is 1300HP.
To do this they use a 2.8 litre diesel generator. When you consider the very efficient 1000HP MTU diesel engine already on the Firtina Howitzer is a 18.2 litre engine, then the power generator used for the hybrid engine is dwarfed by it. (Max power this 2.8 litre engine is developing is 2 x 38KW/2 x 51HP =102HP. So it is mainly used for charging the batteries.)
This howitzer is going to be used in a way that, it will not need quick acceleration and in continuous full power mode for sustained periods of time.
But a tank will be used in such a manner. So the Diesel generator will have to be bigger like the one in HSL-700 loco. A 10-15 litre diesel generator developing around 7-800HP will be needed. A power delivery of 1000HP and 800HP, from batteries and generator respectively, will have a cumulative power of 1800HP. This combination will allow the tank to use both diesel generated and battery generated electrical power at the same time. But also it will allow the use of only battery power when silent running is needed. Albeit it will deplete batteries quicker.

This is the chicken and the egg question. What comes first the chicken or the egg?

What did we produce 10 years ago that needed an engine? Nothing! So nobody produced engines: no demand = no production

But things have changed, we are starting now to produce helicopters, fighter planes, drones etc. Demand is now there and you see yes indeed: engine developments!

Chicken and the egg bro.

You? Or we? Are you not a Turk.
As I remember, we are producing engines for light armored vehicles.

Volkan-M fire control system integration to M60-TM tanks is starting. This system is the culmination of technologies attained from the experience of Volkan 1 and 2 versions. Upon completion of the qualification tests he serial production will start. It will make these tanks even deadlier.
We now need Akkor fitted leo2 tanks modernised in a similar manner.

M60 has undergone 20 upgrades (I'm exaggerating a bit) and BMC has yet to upgrade a Leopard.

I really lost confidence in SSB in regard of tanks while she is still remaining one of the most trusted institutions we have (thanks to all the other projects)

Does anyone know the recent status of the altay tank? I did hear rumors that the contract for the supply of Korean engines will be signed in February but nothing yet happened....

What do you really expect from Turkey? To make f135 class engine within blink of an eye?
Today's predator engine (tpe331) designed beginning 1950s and certified 1965.
There was not any intention of making engines 15 years ago
Turkey does not have tens of billion dollars budget to develop facilities and human resources to make powerful engines but we ll get there.
Do not you listen mr Akşit's interviews what they are making now.
Pd170 is making 130hp at 30kft altitude. There was not any piston engine even working at that levels.
Tj300 has highest thrust for its diameter
Ts1400 is on the way of certification.
It will take time for a country comes very late to the party.
You have to learn to be patient before shitting on Turkish engine industry.

Yusuf Akbaba tweeted about ALTAY MBT.
After receiving a shitstorm he deleted that Tweet.

"He said that due to delay beyond 2025 for ALTAY Turkey should consider the abandoned M60A3M Modernization."

Context: Allegedly the M60A3 Mod has been abandoned due to 750 HP Detroit Diesel Engine not being able to Carry the Weight of the Add on Armor.

Current: At IDEF21 AVDS Offered the 1200 HP V12 Engine (also used in Firtina II) for the M60A3

I truly not understand a single thing about the Altay to be completely honest. For some reason the project is being constantly delayed. A few weeks ago I’ve read that they intended to use some Korean engine. BMC has also developed an engine. So what’s the issue right now ? What games are they playing ?

the Kaplan MT likely not make interest fo TSK, and it is just buy by Indonesia (also in promotion earlier said tailored for special need in tropical warfare) just if Turkey need a FSV, Kaplan MT is good choice for them or just to replace old M48 position. Maybe it is suitable to used

They can used it more frequent and deploy it easily. More they make more order etc make more cheaper. hope this MT get another customer

That guy knows less than most of the people here, but due akp boy he got a job in SSB and thx to connections he can get latest informations.
Every year akp and SSB further postponed Altay induction time, since we all know they messed up project and nothing good we will hear soon. Instead of Otokar which designed the tank , they chose a company without any experience in tanks. When engine change becomes a need, that inexperienced company can do nothing!!
All responsibles should be charged for treason. They let our land forces without a proper tank for years. We gave many souls in Syrian operations due using improper tanks .
Ssb president likes to talk , but he talks shit about Altay tank.
They messed up f-35 , they messed up Altay , they messed up milgem-s project
Now they can talk ,after projects if previous ssm successes!!
They all should be questioned due decision on Altay tank and kirpi projects, the ones after 600 ,first ones were projected years ago, which was also given without competition, to BMC.
