Azerbaijan, Turkey, Pakistan joint SOF exercise "Three Brothers- 2021" begins in Baku

A solemn ceremony dedicated to the opening of the "Three Brothers - 2021" international exercise was held in Baku on September 12 with the participation of representatives of special forces of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Pakistan.

First, the Hero of the Patriotic War, Major General Zaur Javanshir, reported to the Commander of the Special Forces, Hero of the Patriotic War, Lieutenant General Hikmet Mirzayev, that the participants were ready for the opening ceremony.

After congratulating the special forces commanders of the three countries on the start of joint exercises, a minute of silence was observed in memory of the martyrs of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Pakistan.

The national flags of the participating countries were raised to the accompaniment of the national anthems of the participating countries.

Lieutenant General H. Mirzayev said he was very pleased to see the representatives of Turkish and Pakistani special services in Azerbaijan.

"Azerbaijan, Turkey and Pakistan have gone down in human history as close friends and brothers. This is evidenced by the solidarity and support of Turkey and Pakistan to Azerbaijan since the first day of the 44-day counter-offensive launched by Azerbaijan against the armed forces of Armenia on September 27, 2020. Today, all areas between our countries Cooperation is at the highest level. The three brothers will grow closer as reliable regional partners.

The "Three Brothers - 2021" international training will serve to further strengthen the existing bilateral ties between the armies, as well as provide an opportunity to discover new ways to combat terrorism and develop our capabilities through mutual exchange of experience.

After the official part of the opening ceremony, the Command of the Special Forces of Azerbaijan met with the guests and wished them success in the exercises.

Nice to see this. I find it very interesting that if Azerbaijani;s names are almost exactly the same as used in Pakistan sans the Russian suffix 'yev' or 'of' etc. Thus we use Mirza as opposed to Mirza-yev.

Territorial proximity is not neccessary for countries to converge on political or military matters. USA or Canada don't exactly have territoriakl prpximity to Europe, Japan or India. The latter did not have proximity with Afghanistan but it tried to build a relationship withthe previous run away regime in Kabul. And Azerbaijan is not exactly that far from Pakistan - neither is Turkey with only one country inbetween.

Also Pakistan is adjacent to Turkics of Central Asia, Afgfhanistan and neighbours Turkic Uighurs. The entire Turkic arc sits above Pakistan.

Tukey and other turkic nation are seperated by Caspian sea ,also military exercise are frequent between india (arch-rival of pakistan ) and central asia , not to mention farkhor airbase .

So this partnership don't bring anything particular for pakistan

We need Pakistan to keep Iran in check.

Turkey and Azerbaijan do exercise in the caspian sea and the Iranians get butthurt about it also Iran has threatened Pakistan also Turkey.

Iran has also constantly meddled in Azerbaijan.

This exercise to send a message to Iran and Russia.

Stratigically, Iran, take Iran out of the equation we would be at each others throats. The beauty of geopolitics.

Pakistan will leave this block quick as they left the Malaysia summit when there financers get displeased. Just wait to Turkey and China have a fallout. Thats if we get a nationalist conscious party who cares about Turkics more then it cares about ummet.

Yeah they not there yet but honestly no one is there yet... almost every muslim country is broken if we look at the economy and millitarily. But making a union of solid brothers would be awsome i dont seems like pakistan would do that to be honest, the ties between turkey and pakistan is huge now. You made a good point about china. Pakistan relys on china both in investments and projects. Turkey cant compete in this field right now but i think pakistan will keep a balance between the countries and play their card right. At the moment i dont think china and turkey will beef. Maybe in 10-20 years turkey would be in a much better place economically!
