In collaboration with local industry, BAE Systems Australia has developed the STRIX. A multi-role VTOL drone capable of carrying a 150kg payload more than 800km. It can perform ISR and ground strike missions. Interestingly it has been advertised as loyal wingman for helicopters.
When collapsed it measures only 2.6m x 4.5m. It can take off without an airstrip, making it extremely practical in situations where airports aren't accessible.
Also, it has been stated that it can be controlled by helicopter crew.
