Academic activities of the country's first aviation university – Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University – in Lalmonirhat started today (June 26, 2022).

The university's Vice Chancellor, Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Nazrul Islam, inaugurated classes on a temporary campus in the Airport area around noon, our Lalmonirhat correspondent reports.

During the inauguration of academic activities, the VC said that acquisition of 620 acres of land for the permanent campus is in progress.

"The university will be run on international standards," he said, adding, "Lalmonirhat will become an aviation city one day. Students from different countries will come here to study."

He also said that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Aviation and Aerospace University is the first specialised university in the country which offers the opportunity of world class aviation education.

According to the university officials, the university has introduced MBA in Aviation Management, MSc in Aviation Safety and Accident Investigation, and postgraduate courses in LLM in International and Aerospace Law. MSc in Aeronautical Engineering (Aerospace), MSc in Aeronautical Engineering (Avionics), MSc in Space Systems Engineering, MSc in Satellite Communication Engineering will be introduced in the future.

"In the near future, the university will become a hub for students from the South Asian region. Students will have the opportunity to study flight engineering, helicopters, aircraft, flight maintenance, flight operations safety and security management, various fields of space and related research," said VC Air Vice Marshal Nazrul Islam.
