This doesn't make any sense at all. Why do we need Super Mushshak when we have Grob G-120TP? Also BAF can maintain it's own fleet locally and a UK company already carried out integration work of air defense.

I have a question, though: wouldn’t buying more J-10Cs be a better choice? I mean, for the JF-17, wouldn’t we have to train personnel for an entirely different ecosystem? And if Bangladesh buys three different types of jets, wouldn’t integrating them together be difficult?

The Bangladesh Centre for Air and Space Power Studies (BCASPS) was formally inaugurated yesterday (18 January).

Chief of Air Staff of the Bangladesh Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmud Khan attended the ceremony as the chief guest and officially inaugurated both the centre and its website, reads a press release of the Air Force.

Expressing confidence and optimism about the launch of BCASPS as an independent think tank dedicated to research on air and space power, the Air Chief said that effective control and protection of airspace form a fundamental pillar of national sovereignty and stability. He emphasised that in the evolving strategic environment, developing a comprehensive and integrated understanding of both air and space domains is essential to safeguarding Bangladesh's sovereignty, national security, and long-term development interests.

During the programme, the vision of BCASPS was outlined as becoming a centre of excellence that promotes national awareness on air and space power and provides policy-oriented advice in support of Bangladesh's national interests and the capability development of the Bangladesh Air Force.

The establishment of BCASPS was described as a timely and forward-looking initiative of significant importance to national security, the Bangladesh Armed Forces – particularly the Bangladesh Air Force – and a major milestone in strengthening Bangladesh's strategic and intellectual engagement in air and space power.

It seems this earlier report about $600 millions package deal might be true @Sanchez .

Along with 6x T129B we are getting long range radar, (very likely APL-300G) MRSAM, (HISAR O+) few TUSAS UAV, (likely Anka) also likely some C-UAS systems.

According to Air Chief, Government is Fast-tracking these acquisitions. He explicitly said that two times in last two weeks at different occasions. So I expect the contract to be signed in FY27.

PS: it makes so much more sense to spend $270-300 millions for more HISAR O+ batteries or Korkut, or more KAPLAN GMLRS and Tayfun TBM for the army instead of 6x T129.

Maybe these are for suppressing criminals in our CHT area or maybe these are for UN missions?

We need to prioritize procurements of layered radar, air defense systems, artillery and ammunitions for now.
