As the chief responsible general for the “Southern Zone,” Lieutenant General El Farouk was a prominent figure in the African Lion 2021 military exercises with the US and a variety of other countries.

The successful execution of these large-scale military exercises, as well as his role as the army’s top commander in the Sahara region appears to have inspired confidence in his future functioning as the top officer of Morocco’s armed forces, which include the Royal Moroccan Army, the Royal Moroccan Air Force, the Royal Moroccan Navy as well as the Royal Moroccan Gendarmerie and Moroccan Royal Guard.
