BIRD Aerosystems, an Israeli company which provides global innovative defense technology and solutions that protect fleets, armored vehicles, and ground assets of governments and related agencies, announced last week that it has delivered a Falcon 7X aircraft installed with its AMPS Airborne Missile Protection System and Aeroshield-M (Mini) POD to an undisclosed customer. The aircraft has completed a series of flight tests and certifications and will enter operational use by the customer.

The installation of the AMPS system was conducted by the OEM at the Dassault Aviation factory in France, with the support of BIRD which was responsible for the installation, upervision, integration, and testing of the system.

According the company, BIRD's AMPS Airborne Missile Protection System provides the most enhanced protection for military and civilian aircraft against the growing threat of ground-to-air missiles (MANPADS). The system is designed to automatically detect, verify, and foil SAM attacks through the effective use of counter-measure decoys (Flares and Chaff) and by Directional Infrared Countermeasures (DIRCM) that jam the missile's IR seeker and protects the aircraft.

AeroShield-M (Mini) is an all-in-one Mini Pod solution for aircraft protection. Integrating BIRD's AMPS in a compact all-in-one pod, AeroShield-M ensures the highest aircraft survivability uniquely combining DIRCM and Flares protection and ensuring the highest effectiveness against the most advanced missile threats. The AeroShield-M is easily installed and can be simply transferred between different platforms in order to support high operational availability.
