I don't think Taiwan can win a war without the US declaring industrial mobilization. Nor do I think they have enough sources of processed raw materials to declare industrial mobilization.

Therefore, no one should simply put armies in a competition for inventory and ability. You cannot import rare earth elements from China to manufacture cruise missiles or warplanes.

Many new weapons designed to sink carriers had been inducted by PLA in recent years, when the times comes, we'll see the result. but if a war broke out near China, land based fire power and aircrafte can be used against whatever ships sailing close the Chinese coast line, including carriers.

I don't think a mere visit will trigger a war between two world powers, but Chinese military needs to make its point, both sides are bluffing, China won't start a war just because of a visit, US won't defend Taiwan if a war really broke out.
