In the context of the assistance of the National Guard in the search and rescue missions (E-D) within the E-D area of the Republic of Cyprus (KD), means and personnel of the Navy and Air Force Administration, participated this week in missions and exercises carried out under the coordination of the Search and Rescue Center (KSED) of KD.

In particular, PP TSOMAKIS and PP Famagusta participated in operations E-D, missing person in the sea area of Cape Greco on 22 and 24 August 2021, respectively, while on 28 and 29 August 2021, a group of divers and the speedboat of the Submarine Unit assist the work of the port police to find a missing diver in the area of Larnaca airport. In addition, an AW- 139 helicopter of the 460th Search and Rescue Squadron (MES) was involved in an airlift operation of a person who was electrocuted as a result of an accident on a ship sailing 9.5NM North of Cape Arnaoutis.

At the same time, on Friday, August 20, 2021, a joint Search-Rescue exercise of Cyprus - Greece took place, within the area of responsibility E-D of the Republic of Cyprus, with the participation of the Greek Frigate "SALAMIS", Helicopter AW- 139 of 460 MED.

The training was completed with the execution of group exercises​

From 16 to 27 August 2021, the training of the 2021 ESSO hoplites at the Fighter School took place in the local formations. During this training, the hoplites monitored objects of individual tactics, fired shots of all types with their individual rifles, participated in small-scale exercises and conducted fighter marches of different types and distances. The training was completed by performing group exercises in areas near the camp, where the hoplites stayed for 48 hours.

During his visits to the Formations and Administrations, the Head of the EF had the opportunity to attend small-scale exercises and all phases of the individual training conducted at the school. Lieutenant General Zervakis noted the high level of education but also the interest, zeal, morale and enthusiasm of the young hoplites

During the visits, he had the opportunity to meet the soldiers and give them his basic directions. He called on them to be proud because they serve, thus exercising their right and at the same time fulfilling a significant part of their debt to the Homeland. He added that, taking over the baton from the older ESSO, they are called upon to contribute to the common pursuit for the strengthening and reinforcement of the National Guard, observing the "ok elato paradoso". Finally, he drew attention to health and safety issues, urging them to adhere to preventive measures against both COVID-19 and accident prevention in general.
