NAMIB, the New Electronic Warfare Payload Successfully Completes a Collaborative Flight with a Rafale​

Dassault Aviation and Harmattan AI today announced the successful execution of a collaborative in-flight engagement between a Rafale F4 and an unmanned aerial system equipped with the NAMIB payload, a new electronic warfare device jointly developed by both companies.

Paris – Saint-Cloud, France, July 13, 2026 – Dassault Aviation and Harmattan AI today announced the successful execution of a collaborative in-flight engagement between a Rafale F4 and an unmanned aerial system equipped with the NAMIB payload, a new electronic warfare device jointly developed by both companies.
NAMIB is an electronic warfare payload capable of detecting, identifying, and geolocating electromagnetic emissions, in particular those from air defense systems. It can be carried by tactical drones, including quadcopters, as well as by longer-endurance, fixed-winged unmanned aircraft. During the flight, NAMIB discreetly detected and precisely geolocated a radar located several dozen kilometers away. The target’s location was transmitted to the Rafale, which then simulated a strike on the target.
The development of NAMIB, initiated in January 2026, is one of the key initiatives under the strategic partnership between Dassault Aviation and Harmattan AI, which aims to integrate advanced autonomous capabilities into the next generation of air combat systems.
“This flight demonstrates the Rafale’s real and tangible multi-domain collaborative combat capabilities. The F4 standard architecture enables seamless communication with a very broad range of operational assets, including ground forces, allowing it to effectively leverage new capabilities, such as NAMIB’s electromagnetic detection and geolocation functions”, said Eric Trappier, Chairman and CEO of Dassault Aviation. “It also provides another illustration of the Rafale’s continuous adaptation to evolving operational requirements, and, in this case, to ‘high-low mix’, that is, the combination of highly sophisticated systems with autonomous and expendable effectors.”

Test Pilot Sébastien Dupont de Dinechin and copilot Fabrice Dougnac took off from runway 23 at Bordeaux-Mérignac at 11.10 a.m. for a two-hour and 30-minute flight. The pilots evaluated handling qualities and systems at 15,000 feet, then retracted the landing gear and all movable surfaces before climbing to 40,000 feet, where they accelerated to Mach 0.82. They returned to Bordeaux-Mérignac for a smooth landing at 1.40 p.m.

The Rafale is a twin-jet fighter aircraft able to operate from both an aircraft carrier and a shore base. The fully versatile Rafale is able to carry out all combat aviation missions: air superiority and air defense, close air support, in-depth strikes, reconnaissance, anti-ship strikes and nuclear deterrence. The Rafale entered service with the French Navy in 2004 and with the French Air Force in 2006. Rafale is one of the most seasoned fighter in the world. It has been combat proven since 2007. The export success of the Rafale has been vindicated. Rafale has now more export orders than French orders.

Delivery of the 300th Rafale​

The production of the 300th Rafale has been completed a few days ago. This milestone reflects the operational, industrial, and commercial success of this combat aircraft, which has no equivalent in its category in terms of versatility and proven operational effectiveness.

Saint-Cloud, France, October 7, 2025 – The production of the 300th Rafale has been completed a few days ago. This milestone reflects the operational, industrial, and commercial success of this combat aircraft, which has no equivalent in its category in terms of versatility and proven operational effectiveness.
Under the oversight of the Direction générale de l’Armement and the engineering management of Dassault Aviation, the Rafale program brings along 400 French companies. It is a cornerstone of France’s industrial and military sovereignty thanks to the critical technologies it has developed and the export successes it has achieved.
To date, 533 Rafale aircraft have received firm orders from France and eight export customer countries. Thus, 233 examples are yet to be delivered, with production rates planned to increase to 4 aircraft per month.
The first Rafale units became operational in the French Navy in 2004 and in the French Air Force in 2006. Export deliveries began in 2015 (Egypt).

Reception of the First Two Falcon Albatros Aircraft by the DGA​

The Direction Générale de l’Armement (DGA - French Government Defense Procurement Agency) has taken delivery of the development and the first two Falcon 2000LXS Albatros aircraft as part of the AVSIMAR program (Maritime Surveillance and Intervention Aircraft).

(Saint-Cloud, France, September 09, 2026) – The Direction Générale de l’Armement (DGA – French Government Defense Procurement Agency) has taken delivery of the development and the first two Falcon 2000LXS Albatros aircraft as part of the AVSIMAR program (Maritime Surveillance and Intervention Aircraft). Launched in 2020, this program plans to deliver a total of twelve aircraft by 2031. Dassault Aviation and all French companies involved in the Falcon programs thank the Ministry of the Armed Forces, the French Navy, and the DGA for their trust.
The Falcon 2000 Albatros is equipped with a multifunction radar under the fuselage, a high-performance optronic turret, observation windows, a Search & Rescue (SAR) chain-dropping system, and dedicated communication systems. Based on the Falcon 2000LXS business jet—the latest model in the Falcon 2000 series, with hundreds of units sold worldwide—this aircraft is highly versatile. With a range of 7,400 km, high transit speed, and excellent low-speed flight characteristics, it can monitor vast areas and intervene quickly and precisely at long distances from its base.
The development of the Falcon 2000 Albatros was carried out by Dassault Aviation in cooperation with Naval Group, Safran, and Thales. Flight tests were conducted at Dassault Aviation’s flight test center in Istres, while conversion work is performed at Dassault Aviation’s Mérignac plant.
“From the Falcon 20 of the U.S. Coast Guard to the Falcon 900 and 2000MSA of the Japanese Coast Guard, and including the Falcon 200 Gardian and 50M of the French Navy, we have extensive experience in maritime surveillance,” said Éric Trappier, Chairman & CEO of Dassault Aviation. “These aircraft provide a high-performance response to the significant challenges of sovereignty, maritime security, and state action at sea: combating pollution and trafficking, border and exclusive economic zone surveillance, fisheries policing, search and rescue at sea, medical evacuations, and more. It is only natural that France, which has the second-largest maritime domain in the world, should be at the forefront of using such aircraft.”
In parallel, Dassault Aviation has built up long-standing expertise in maritime patrol, first with the Atlantic and then the Atlantique 2, aircraft tasked with the highly demanding mission of protecting France’s nuclear submarines. The recently delivered Atlantique 2 Standard 6 has demonstrated world-class operational capabilities, underscoring Dassault Aviation’s unrivaled expertise in maritime patrol in Europe.
