Jusoor Center for Studies published a report bearing the signature of the Center's director, Muhammad Sarmini, that revealed a secret meeting between the President of the Syrian regime, Bashar al-Assad, and an Israeli security official, at the Hmeimim base in Tartous, in December of last year.
The report said that it was based on documented information that confirmed that the secret meeting took place in the presence of the head of the National Security Office in Syria, Ali Mamlouk, and his special advisor for security and strategic affairs, Major General Bassam Hassan, and on the Israeli side, General Gadi Eisenkot of the Chief of Staff, and the former General of the Mossad, Ari Ben-Menashe. In the presence of Alexander Tchaikov, Commander of the Russian Forces in Syria.
Regarding the content and purpose of this meeting, the report indicated that Al-Assad had presented several demands to Israeli officials; Most notably, returning to the Arab League and obtaining financial aid to repay the Iranian debt; Consequently, he opened the way for his regime to drive Iran out of Syria, and support it to consolidate its rule, restore relations with the Sunni Arab axis, support Syria economically, stop the implementation of the sanctions imposed on Syria and stop the penal code
