He was a controversial guy. Like many people who get famous they often don't live up to the truth mirror. To begin with we can't doubt his contribution however he was better a self publicist then a scientist. A nuke project takes 1,000s of scientists and technicians all working together. Men like Dr Munir Akram probably played a bigger role in the making of the Pak nuke bomb, in fact arguably Dr Abdus Salam played a even bigger role by by panting a scientific nursery bed which cropped a whole generation of nuke scientists who would join the project in 1970s when the Pakistan govrenment under Bhutto asked all Pakistani scientific talent abroad to come home and pitch in.

AQ was the supreme self image maker and his biggest succcess was he made his own face synonymous with the Pakistani nuclear project and this was lapped up by the gullible, half literate Pakistan public. The truth was he was a self concieted, greedy, arrogant man who eventually got exposed for what he was. Then the Pakistani government had a job and half in handling the situation. How do you sqaure up this common criminal with te halo of national figure that had been built up.

A good example at the shenanigans of this 'hero' can be seen by how he tried to force grap a Psychiatric Hospital all for the gardens/land that the patients of the hospital had for recuperation. As the hospital was in centre of the city it was worth lot of money for real estate development.

What scientist? The guy was a smuggler and proliferator.
You know try sometimes to be objective. He was smuggler but it is nothing new. Technology can only be invented once. Most of the rocket technology you saw Russia or USA develop was based on German WW2 technology. Much of the Israeli nascent military technology is essentially smuggled from America. Take the time to look at Israeli Kfir jets which are based on stolen Dassault Mirage blueprints from France.

And American nuclear know was 'proliferated' to friendly countries in Western Europe and Israel. This also applies to India as well which used Canadian atoms for peace programmed to develop nukes.

On another note such was the speed of Pakistan's nuke project [Code Project 706] that by 1980 Pakistan was on the cusp of going nuclear. BBC programme aired on 16th of June 1980.

I see this man as a anti hero I he cared a lot about Pakistan while at the same time he did shady things.

Lol. Did any of them give nuke tech to pariah states like North Korea?
