The flag of the Arab Revolt, also used as the flag of Hejaz, was a flag used by Hussein bin Ali and his allies, the Arab nationalists, during the Arab Revolt against the Ottoman Empire during WWI, and as the first flag of the Kingdom of Hejaz. It was designed by Mark Sykes, but has palettes reminiscent of previous Arab flags, such as the flags of the al-Muntada al-Adabi, al-ʽAhd and al-Fatat.

These verses would have been adopted by groups like the secret Arab nationalist society Al-Fatat to represent different eras of history too, considering the Abbasid, Umayyad, and Fatimid Caliphates, creating a combination that may have inspired Mark Sykes's design, who connected it with the red of the Hashemites.
Today, this legacy has evolved into two distinct styles. The "Triangle Style" is preserved by nations like Jordan, Palestine and Sudan, which keep the red triangle of the Hashemite design. Meanwhile, the "Arab Liberation" style, characterized by horizontal stripes, became the standard for Egypt, Iraq, and Yemen during the republican movements of the 1950s.
