The French Gendarmerie initiates the modernization of its air force. The Interior Ministry has decided to acquire 10 H160 helicopters from Airbus. The contract is worth €200 million and will be signed in 2021. The acquisition is financed as part of the air industry recovery plan.
These new-generation, versatile, fuel-efficient and quiet helicopters will replace the 26 ageing Eurocopter AS350 Écureuil which have an average age of 35. Other tranches are planned to replace the entire fleet.
