At least 10 suspected YPG/PKK terrorists were detained in southwestern France, French media reported Tuesday.

Local media, citing judicial sources, reported that the operation against the PKK was carried out at the request of the Paris anti-terrorism judge.

The suspects, including a woman, were detained as part of an investigation opened on charges of “creating and financing a terrorist organization.”

Police teams raided several houses simultaneously during the operation.

On Feb. 21, 2020, four people were investigated in southwest France for funding the PKK terrorist organization.

It is not known whether there is a connection between the investigation launched last year and the operation carried out by police.

No official statement has been made on the operation.

These people were indicted for "terror financing and organized gang extortion in connection with a terrorist group". Last year four people were investigated for collecting funds for the PKK from Kurdish communities in southwest France.

Meanwhile the French communist party and the unbowed France (both far left parties) have condemned the government for criminalizing Kurdish militant activities in France.

How big are these parties?

The French communist was once one of the biggest party in the country after WW2 til the end of the 70's,but began to decline afterwards. It's no longer a major political force, they have 10 MPs.

The Unbowed France of Jean Luc Mélenchon (you must have heard of him once at least) gained quite a serious momentum during the 2017 presidential election, its candidate arriving 4th in the presidential race. They even gained 17 MPs. But nowadays the party is on decline, hit by several scandals,in 2019 they made 6% in the European elections.

In 2022 presidential election polls,Mélenchon is given between 5-10% of the votes.

Those two parties (Luckily for all of us and our country) don't weigh much nowadays.

So,why this change of attitude against the PKK?
You know the situation between Macron and Erdogan, doesnt make any sense.
Or is it just an internal matter?

How strong is Charles De Gaule's ideology aka Gaullism in France. Any chance that it could make a comeback?

These guys extort money from honest businesses to finance their activities. That can't be tolerated by any modern state.

There was no change of attitude against the PKK I believe,France since a long time ago considered the PKK as a terrorist organization. Regularely people are arrested and charged for funding this organization. (More like extorting Kurds in France)

In fact the two parties I cited above are accusing the government of normalizing relations with Erdogan at the expense of the kurds.

Nowadays every political charlatans claim to be Gaullists or are inspired by the Gaullism just to fool people. The only thing that could save France and avoid again the likes of Macron or Le Pen is to have a strong and credible center-right candidate. (the left and center left have no chances anyways)

I find De Gaule an interesting figure. His underrated in the world of history.

He achieved a lot for France so its not surprising how politicians in France try to claim him as their own.
